is the feature of the day. Even though I took lots of pictures today, the star that arrived today was RED. I was a day late here. I saw this late yesterday and hoped it would hang around until today, but no... the nocturnal bloomers only last for about 14 hours. Yesterday, this was about ten beautiful flowers. Sort of red. Today, it's a sad reminder that I should have had my camera with me yesterday.
After choir practice, I found myself in the Cactus Garden... shocker. Toma's baby Argentine Giant arrived this morning. Not red.Not red. Not red, but glorious nonetheless. Not red, but smiling very sweetly for the camera. And oh my goodness, not red, but the Staghorn Cholla did not want to be upstaged today and decided to just put on it's very own show. This is the most these flowers have opened up so far, as if to say, "Red, you ain't got nuthin' on us." What a pose! It's a parrr-teeee, but not red. Four pink ladies in a row on Bunny Ears, but not red.Yellow gal on a Cow's Tongue... not red. Can you find the dove, not a Cardinal, nesting in this Cholla? Right in plain view. Can't believe such large flowers are produced by such a small cactus... not red. I don't know what this is, but it's a tree, doesn't have thorns and it isn't red. Mexican petunias... definitely not red. Purple, not red, Mexican petunias and Apricot, not red, Claret Cups getting along nicely. Would you believe Jim has just "planted" this dead Cholla trunk? He should have painted it red. Guess he didn't realize it was "red" day. Toma's almost red poppies are so pretty... look like tissue paper, doesn't it? Bottle Brush... RED!Not red. Moving on down to Jean Waller's garden, are you reddy for the Star.of.the.Day? You know it! It's RED! trichocereus! It's your day, baby, so shine, Red.A different shade, but still red. The Red Barrel Cactus knew it was RED Day.The trichocereus must be very competitive. The lavender, not red, but really putting on a show today. Good job, Elohim (God, Creator)! Not red, but Rainbow cactus. Don't go away mad just because you're not red. Oh sooooo close to being red. Actually, these are two tone. It looks like the color is changed by the light on it, but it's actually a different color there on the edge. From a slightly different angle... still you see the lighter edge. Very showy.Looking for something red or something to eat? I think it's time for me to get outta here. Outside the garden and while riding my bike, I saw this new creation by Jim, the wood carver, down the street. It's not red, but it sure is cute. He does such neat work. It's a cloudy day today, but still very warm and a great day to enjoy the Art Work of the Master.
We are so blessed.
