Two more Saguaro blooms greeted us this morning when we stepped out to go to church!Even though many have left the park, we still had 105 in church this morning and Don preached a great message from Titus 2:7-11 about what a good-looking Christian looks like with an emphasis on integrity and doing what's right.
We had a visitor in church this morning... Margie Rodgers came to see us! We met Margie in Coffeyville, KS last fall while we were chaplain for the Amazon.com workampers. When Don announced that today is Margie's birthday, Linnea immediately led us in singing "Happy Birthday" to her. She is a special lady and friend. After church we took Margie and Ms. Mary to lunch at Barney's and met others from church there to dine together. At this table, Ray, Lee, and Jean. Linnea, Don, Maggie & Jack Mitchell. Again, with Linnea and Jack looking at the camera. (We learned today that Jack is a member of the Screen Actors Guild. Two of the movies he was in was Airport 75 and Airport 76. Note to self: rent these movies!) Bud and Barb. The birthday girl, Margie and Ms. Mary. Fran and Linnea. Margie and Don. Me and Margie. We sure are going to miss all the wonderful folks here at Sunscape. Our plan to return in the Fall makes parting a little easier. So, in reflection of the message this morning and this past week's events, here's a poem by Helen Steiner Rice that I like:
Your Thoughtfulness Is a Reflection of God's Love
When someone does a kindness,
it always seems to me
That's the way God up in Heaven
would like us all to be.
For when we bring some pleasure
to another human heart,
We have followed in His footsteps
and we've had a little part
In serving Him who loves us
for I'm very sure it's true
That in serving those around us,
we serve and please Him, too.
