Sunday is here

Now that Christmas is past, more grandmas and grandpas are arriving at the park and is evidenced in the attendance in church... 185 this morning!!

Philippians 3:13-15 was the text.  Don preaches from the NIV and I read it in the NLT (:-)--

Philippians 3:13-15 (New Living Translation)

13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

15 Let all who are spiritually mature agree on these things. If you disagree on some point, I believe God will make it plain to you.

Don made three points:

1-Develop a positive outlook toward life: make life worthwhile.

2-Develop a positive attitude toward the church: we belong to God.

3-Display a positive attitude toward others:  love each other!

Next Sunday, Don will be preaching on how we are able to do these things: Prayer.  (Unless God re-directs him.)

We met about eight or nine other couples at Barney's Buffet for lunch which is always a good time of fellowship.  Then it was back to the Q and rest (and football - yeah Vikings and Cowboys!!).

Later, we walked over to visit Thelma and Jim.  Both are dealing with health issues and all prayers for them is appreciated greatly.  From there, we walked over to visit Jack and Maggie.  They have missed church for several Sundays because Jack had a cancer removed from his nose and the doctor ordered him not to be around people where he could get an infection.  He is almost completely healed and should get the OK to get out of the house this week.  We sure miss having Jack available to the sound booth.  They are wonderful folks and we miss them, period, so we needed a Jack and Maggie "fix."

We found out this morning that Jan made the wonderful pickled beets we ate New Year's day (with our black-eyed peas), which so reminded both of us of our childhood.  Jan also made us a banana nut bread that was out of this world.... really moist and wonderful.

OK, here I am talking about food again.  I have really been trying not to focus so much on food, but.... it's not working.  Shocker.

I clean our desk area tonight!!! Don's so proud of me.  Now if I can just keep it clean.  Isn't it amazing how much paper junk we collect.  I logged all important info in the computer and threw away the paper.  Yeah me!!  Note to self:  don't forget where you stored the important info.

It was so good to worship together with other believers this morning.  I pray that you enjoyed such a blessing today, also.

God is good.... all the time.
