When we pulled onto the highway this morning on our way to Thursday Morning Couples' Bible Study..... what in the world is that??? Don turned right when he should have turned left, just so we could see this phenomenon and I could take pictures.
A herd of sheep??? Being herded down the highway?
After we past the herd, Don turned the truck around the first chance he got and we came back just in time to be stopped....
Which way do we go? Which way do we go?
"C'mon, guys, keep it moving across the road." What a beautiful working dog!
A couple of the sheep herders held up the fence and the dog guided them right under the fence and into this alfalfa field.
Well, that was just a Thursday highlight. I've been wanting to get some good pictures of the snow-sheep. Thank you, LORD.
So, on down the highway we went. True to the predictions, clouds are moving in, promising rain.
But wait. What's that? Is that dust or rain over there?
Oh, yes, that's dust alright and the traffic on Interstate 10 has slowed down considerably.
There was no break in the dust storm and we arrived at John and Margie Cartwright's a few minutes before 10:00 a.m. Margie is the hostess with the "mostest." The cinnamon coffee cake and coffee hit the spot.
Jan, John (not Cartwright), Margie, Cheryl.
Cheryl and Marie wanted to show me the fish they found at Marshall's the other day. He's "dressed" to the hilt and hanging on Margie's bathroom wall.
Now I am out of control with the camera. John made this cross (I think) and Margie glued the sea shells on it. Great idea! I must tell Mama Trudy about this. She has many sea shells.
And isn't this pioneer girl the sweetest?! Cheryl crocheted her for Margie as a gift.
Next was their master bedroom. I love their bedroom furniture.
We made our way back to the group as it was time for our Bible study on Jesus' sermon regarding his desire for us to be salt and light to the world we live in. It was a great study and everyone shared thoughts and experiences. Bob said when he thinks of salt, he thinks of how it melts ice. Great analogy.
After Bible Study, we head toward Casa Grande and the dust storm is still raging. The wind is outrageous.
Somewhere over there is a mountain.
We had lunch at Chili's and then headed for the Q, seven miles away. (excuse the dirty windshield) If you notice near the horizon, the color is kind of tan? That's dusts.
You can't imagine how hard the wind is blowing. Well, maybe you can.
Trees look really interesting in the dust storm.
And it just got worse. Notice the brake lights on the truck in front of us.
Clifford doesn't much care for this dust!
Praise God! We made it back to the park and the Q!! I was afraid the flag was going to be separated from the pole!
For several hours, the dust blue and the Q rocked and jolted.
And then it began to rain and the dust moved north and east of us. And you would think that the storm is over. Not so. Now we are under a TORNADO WATCH!
I turned and took pictures of what had just passed.
Back to what's headed our way.
We spent the rest of the night with dinner and watching TV. Well, I watched the radar on the Internet and chatted with Peggy in Apache Junction as she and Bill (and I) were praying the tornado warning would not materialize into a reality near them (or us). A warning means that there is an actually tornado in the area! I told Peggy that the Q had rocked and rolled so much this afternoon and tonight that I felt like I had been riding a mechanical bull all day!
I am very grateful to report that it is now past eleven o'clock in the evening and the storm has past and only the gentle rain remains. The wind has laid. Thank You, Jesus!
For a while tonight, I thought we were back in Oklahoma! *-*
"Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,
Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy." (Psalm 107:1-2)
