Gospel Jam Night

Tonight was Gospel Jam Night in the community center.  GJN is the third Wednesday night of each month and a collection is taken for the Home of Hope in Casa Grande.  Home of Hope is one of only two faith-based facilities for addicted women and women with children.  Our collection is used to purchase meat for them and the folks here are sure generous.

Who knew George could sing so well!??!!

Virgil is doing great since having both knees replaced.  He really belted out a gospel song tonight.100_0103

We're all really looking forward to Sherry Walker's concert here in a few weeks.Sherry Walker

Wendell also plays the steel guitar.  There's sure a lot of talent here.100_0106

I didn't take a picture of every participant because, honestly, the lighting on stage is not the best and I don't like to use the flash.  We were sitting half way back... the the best vantage point.

Did I mention that is was a beautiful day today?   This cactus wren was singing a song on top of the flag pole across the street.  Actually, he sounded more like he was fussing at someone.  But see how blue the sky is?cactus wren on a flag pole

God is good; all the time.

DAILY VERSE
“The wolf and the lamb will feed together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox,
but dust will be the serpent’s food.
They will neither harm nor destroy
on all My holy mountain,”
says the LORD.  Isaiah 65:25

DAILY QUOTE
Christ alone can bring lasting peace—peace with God—peace among men and nations—and peace within our hearts.--Billy Graham

DAILY THOUGHT

Maybe you remember the story of Koko, the female gorilla that raised several kittens as her own, a rare example of an animal—other than a human—caring for babies of a different species. As amazing as that story seems, the Bible describes an era to come when lions and lambs will lie down together. Another image that’s completely contrary to nature—or what we expect from nature.
But that’s just a highlight of the glorious future when God redeems the earth: there will be peace so perfect that it defies everything we currently know and believe could be possible.
Today, as has been the case throughout human history, we experience discord and enmity. But we have the promise of God’s Holy Spirit working within us now, and we have the promise of a glorious peace in the future. That is something that should motivate us to be peacemakers—and something for which to praise God.
Thank You, Lord, for Your promises and for Your redeeming power. I pray that You would transform my heart and make me a peacemaker. Amen.
