Fran has a Pacemaker.

Today, we rode with Linnea to Mercy Gilbert Medical Center to visit her husband, Fran, before he went into surgery to have a pacemaker "installed."  MGMC is a beautiful hospital.Gilbert Mercy Hospital

We were picked up in the parking lot by the hospital shuttle and carried to the front door.hospital shuttle service taking us to the front door.

Well, we arrived about 2:00 PM and Fran was scheduled to go into surgery at 3:00 PM. Fran, waiting to go to surgery, and Linnea When they came to get him, it was after 5:00 PM.  And after that he waited almost and hour to go into actual surgery.  The surgery took almost two hours.  He did great and was back in his room by 8:00 PM... starving hungry!  We helped with his meal as he will have limited use of his left hand for a while.   We got him all settled for the night and came home, arriving around 10:00 PM.

It was a long afternoon and evening, but it was a good day.  We are blessed to be able to help this beautiful couple.

Another incident I must tell you about... while we were in the waiting room and Fran was in surgery, a frail elderly man came into the waiting room with a walker and an overnight bag.  He sat down in a chair across the room from us and in a few minutes his phone rang.  We really did not want to eavesdrop, but Don and I were both straining to hear every quiet word he was saying into his phone.  We understood him to say that his wife's kidneys where not functioning correctly, she was having difficulty breathing, they were trying to decide weather or not to put her back on the respirator, and she was pretty much out of it.  And  he had gone over to the motel, but it was just too lonely there, so he came back to the hospital.  At that Don and I looked at each other with tears in our eyes.  Our hearts just went out to this sweet man as he told the party on the phone how much he appreciated their prayers.  When Fran was out of surgery and we got up to go back to his room, I knew what Don was going to do; he walked right over to the little man and extended his hand stating that he had over heard his conversation and would the gentleman like for us to pray with him.  At this, he stood up and how much he would appreciate prayers and he said, "Mary Lou has been my bride for 62 years and I would sure love to have 30 or 40 more years with her if I could."  Oh my, we were all in tears.  So Don, Linnea, myself and Dale (that's his name) held hands and Don prayed for Mary Lou and Dale; for Mary Lou's healing and comfort and for peace for Dale.  I couldn't help myself, I had to hug his neck and he just couldn't thank us enough.  It was really hard to leave him there alone.

That was our Monday.  God is so good.
