The LORD protected us through the storm last evening and we had a restful night, ready this morning to get out and see what a wind blown, rain soaked Valley of the Sun looks like.
The cactus garden just outside the park is retaining it's share of water. But, oh, just look at that blue sky.
Not far down the highway, I noticed this palm tree with what looks like dates hanging. Did that just happen because of the rain?
The air has been rain cleansed and the dust is totally gone from the air. The mountains in the distance can be clearly seen.
We were amazed at how far we could see the mountains with the atmosphere free from dust.
We love how the clouds make shadows on the mountains.
All the roadside ditches are full and flowing with water.
Beautiful, green alfalfa fields.
Florence Avenue, Casa Grande, AZ., going west. (This picture is for me, just in case I ever want to remember what this main street looked like.)
Where we frequent for breakfast. They say "JB" means "Just Better."
We made a stop to fill up with gas and then on down the street to buy water.
The water here must be filtered, reverse osmosis. This is the cheapest place we've found and the nicest. The faucet slides down to fit over the bottle opening.
More pictures on our way back to the Q, a different route.
Thursday night and Friday, this road was closed.
In two places, water is still running over the highway. Notice the gate to the far left? That's a driveway into a house and there is water almost to their front door. I'm quite sure they had water in their house yesterday.
The water is flowing in the ditches.
Here we go! Thank the Lord for a "tall" truck!
Back in the park, I got some shots of the park "lake."
Sunscape RV Park "lakefront" property in Arizona.... for a few days.
It's pretty to look at. I'll keep checking to see how long the water stays in the "lake."
We had Lori and Norm over tonight for a few games of Zilch and fellowship. They're fun we're really enjoying them being here.
Hope to see you in church in the morning, wherever you live. Here, it starts early... first service at 8:20 and second service at 9:50.
DAILY VERSE
There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land.
Deuteronomy 15:11
DAILY QUOTE
We cannot do great things on this earth, only small things with great love.
Mother Teresa
DAILY THOUGHT
The motto “Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime,” forms a foundation for the work of many charities and ministries as they strive to help the people they serve grow progressively self-sufficient. So many of the poor in our midst need not just food for today, but encouragement, compassion, and a mentor to help them meet their challenges for a brighter tomorrow. So, as we try to follow the Bible’s command to look after the poor, it might be a good idea to pray for wisdom about ways we might best help someone move to a new level in life.
There’s nothing wrong with giving money. Most service agencies rely on donations. But don’t be afraid to get a little dirty, to get creative with your giving. Pick up a few extra groceries for a food pantry while you’re at the store. Serve a few hours a week at a homeless shelter. Give your time to mentor a child at risk. Whatever you do, ask God to help you meet the deepest needs of those around you.
Father, I’m in awe of Your compassion for the poor. Show me how to reach out to others with Your compassion and love. Amen.
