Waco - Day 1 - 04/03/08 - Thurs.

[I realize this is out of order. Sorry]

It's Thursday. We slept very well. Woke up early. It's so peaceful and quite in this campground by the lake. The birds (cardinals and blue jays) are singing. The squirrels are romping in the thick trees. Yesterday when we pulled into the park, we saw a roadrunner and heard the doves calling each other. Reminded us of Arizona. Don couldn't wait to get outside. We took a stroll around the park and, of course, I took my camera. Walk with us. This is our "street". There's only two other campers on this street, both sides. That will probably change this weekend. You might say we almost have the campground and the lake to ourselves. There's a camper next door, but we haven't seen anyone there yet. Of course, we walk toward the water, are you kidding me? Where else would we go? Jealous aren't you? Here, Kathy Weyer, this is for you! I'll have to walk over here at night to take a picture because they are LIGHTED! Walking on water? Yes, just had something between he and the water. So very pretty. Then, Don left me to gathering tax information for the accountant and went to Wal-Mart to get a new hairdryer which he burnt up the other morning in LasCruces. He wound up at the VA Center here in Waco, because his blood pressure meds still have not caught up with us. When he got back to the 'house' he was fairly glowing. The nurse he saw was so nice and a Christian. She was so excited to hear about our ministry and that Don was a preacher. She made him an appointment with the doctor for 2:30 p.m. because his b/p was still up a little and she wanted to know if she could pray for him!! BLESSED HIS SOX OFF! And almost made me cry when He was telling me about her and the things she said. Thank you, Lord, for making this visit to the VA Medical Center so pleasant. We eat a small lunch because he's going to cook dinner for the family tonight and then he did whatever it was he needed to do to the black tank hose. After a bit, he headed back to the VA hospital to his doctor appointment. About 4:00, he called me (for about the 4th time today. we are so happy to have cell phone service again when one of us is at the 'house' and the other is out running around) and was bubbling with joy, again! The doctor was from India and very nice and he wanted to know about Don's ministry and what was there new that he was preaching about. Well, Don wasn't sure what religion this young man was and if he was trying to 'pick a fight.' So Don said, "Well, not nothing much new about it, just preach the same gospel we ever we go." The doctor said, "Well, Amen." Would you believe it? The doctor's a Christian, also, and they talked about the Lord and Kingdom things for over 30 minutes. He was raised in a Christian home; both his dad and grand-dad were preachers. When Don told him how nice everyone there had been to him and that the nurse had prayed with him, the doctor said, "that's pretty much the norm around here." Wow! Sure different from the OKC VA med center, even though they are nice, no one has ever prayed with Don there. Don has sure had a pleasant and encouraging day. Praise the Lord.
He finally made it to the HEB for groceries.
While he was away, there were squirrels playing out behind the RV, so I went out to join them. This big fellow was watching me watch him.He allowed me to get pretty close. Before he scampered up the tree. Naa naa naa boo boo, you can't get me. As I turned to go back inside, something blue caught my eye. Yes! there's bluebonnets! Aren't they pretty? These aren't as thick as they are in some places, but pretty just the same. When I wasn't taking pictures and blogging, I spent most of the day on the phone trying to get someone to come out here to add a longer cable to our DirecTV satellite dish. No success yet.
Shhhh. I also took a little snooze in my recliner, too. Sorry, I didn't get a picture of that.
It's been cloudy all day with rain and storms in the forecast for later. I pray the weather guessers have guessed wrong.
Tonight we fixed dinner for everyone here. Don cooked citrus e.v.o.o. chicken breast in the rotisserie and the electricity went off when he was half through, so we moved it outside and plugged in to the 20 amp and had dinner without a hitch. While the chicken was cooking we watch the kids playing. Here's Camden with Grammy, the other grandmother who is blessed to live in the same town. and Leslie taking a pic of Emma. Tomorrow, we will pick up Emma at school.
Good night and God bless you.
