Friday and time to roll. We’ve rested, swam (Don), taken pictures, recharged and done the laundry.
On the way out of the park we had to stop at the office to exchange the gate card for our Passport America card. No one was in the office. In fact, the office was locked. Semi-aggravation wants to work it’s way into our day. There was a gentleman over at the dumpster who looked like he might be a park worker, so Don asked him for help and while he was looking for someone to help Don, Don came back to the truck and said, “You know, one of my devotionals was talking about patience this morning and it also said ‘first of all pray.’” That is something we always do when we get in the truck to travel. We pray. But, this morning we hadn’t prayed yet, so we prayed right then and there. The man found someone to help us and we were on our way… about 9:00 AM.
Out on I-44, this billboard caught my eye. Oh, yes, I want to go there.NOT!!
You know I can’t pass up a good horse scene. Notice the clear, blue sky… it’s already hot.
It’s not long until we can see the Ozarks in the distance and the highway is getting more hilly.
Our Guard must be working this weekend. Some of the trucks even had boats on them. A BIG ‘Thank You’ to all our National Guard personnel.
But this time, we drove right on by.
We stopped at a rest area that had a really unique picnic area.
Each picnic table was in it’s own“building” reminiscent of the Route 66 hey days when that historic byway ran through this part of Missouri.
Aren’t they just too cute?On our way out of the picnic area, something caught my eye up under a picnic table top… I don’t know how I saw it, but I did. This preying mantis aka walking stick was at least six inches long!
Yes! Not bad for 60 mph. I’m surprised I even saw it several hundred yards from the interstate.
We pulled into our new site about 1:00 PM. Dear Lord, please let the chocks hold!
From the ridge where we are parked, we have this view of Branson… all of Branson.
I thinks this very tall flag pole is somewhere in the vicinity of the outlet malls. I’ll have to check it out.
Dennis, CRM General Director and Sally, are parked just a few sites up from us and they took us to dinner tonight at the Bradford House just up the road.Sally got her hair all cut off!!
We all came back to the Q for a game of Spades. It took us all evening to play one game, because we kept stopping to talk about the exciting things God is doing and has done.
However, the game did finally end in a victory for the….
