We were running out of certain clean items, so it’s laundry day.
Our site is right across the street from the laundry room, so that’s convenient and it was only $1 for each, washer and dryer.
However, does this give you any indication of something missing in the laundry room?If you guessed, “NO A/C,” you guessed correctly. I even moved the electric fan out of our bedroom to the laundry building, which helped move the hot air around… better than nothing. If you’ve heard the national weather, we’re right in the middle of a heat advisory. Heat index was probably close to 110 degrees yesterday with humidity. The forecast calls for cooler temps next week. We sure hope and pray they are right.
While clothes were washing, I took these pictures. The Q looks nice and cool doesn’t it, in the shade of trees? Praise God for trees and air conditioning. (Notice the little travel trailer across the street.)
The lady in that travel trailer has a hummingbird feeder hanging from a limb of a tree and at any given time, there are one to ten hummers nearby. I could probably get a lot closer and get better pictures without using the zoom and it wouldn’t bother them.
We also have a really good signal here, with our phones and WiFi air card.
Driving through Cuba looking for a place to eat lunch, we saw a sign that said, “World’s Largest Rocking Chair – 4 1/2 mi” so we went in search of the world’s largest rocking chairs. We’ve see some pretty big rocking chairs in our travels, so we had to check this out. Not only did we find the really large rocking chair, it was on the historic Route 66.
Do you see Don? Do you see the house on the right?
Next to the Route 66 Rocking Chair was a store selling…
Back to Cuba, I got pictures of some of the murals painted on their building walls. Cuba was founded in 1857 by George Jamison and Wesley Smith. It was named after the island of Cuba, which at that time was in the news quite often due to the Spanish rule over its people.
I found a website about all the murals in Cuba! In fact, this is a great website about Cuba and the goings-on here.
I have searched and searched but can not find any history on this beautiful house.
After lunch at the Pizza Hut in Cuba, we headed back to the Q and the A/C. It wasn’t long before Don was in his swim trunks (is that terminology still used?) and heading to the pool. I decided to grab the camera and go with him. We passed the miniature golf course on the way to the pool. It’s still being used, but is also in need of a little repair.
This swimming pool is a diving pool being nine feet deep on the diving end.
I’m sitting on the side with my feet dangling in the water, trying to breath in the stifling heat.
Thunder clouds are gathering and the sun is behind them or I could not be sitting outside.
Adjacent to the diving pool Don was in, was this dry Olympic size swimming pool. It needs repairs as does the deck. This is a huge park (over 400 sites) and was once someone’s dream realized, but today it needs lots of TLC.
For one very brief second, there was a slight breeze.
I finally had to go back to the Q and the A/C. Don wasn’t quite ready to get out of the pool, but wasn’t far behind. He didn’t much care for being in the pool while it was thundering. The rain started no long after he came back, but the showers didn’t last very long. Don got back out and walked to the office and said it was much nicer outside when he got back. I took his word for it. The rest of the afternoon we spent inside and dined on chicken salad sandwiches for supper.
Tomorrow… on the road again just a short distance to Branson, Missouri.
Blessings to all.
