Beloved Friends

No gym yesterday.  Don and Dennis went to Bible Study at 6:00 AM and then Dennis had meetings.  I could have gone to the gym by myself, but decided my body needed to rest I just didn’t want to.  Like I said before, rest is good.

Don got a haircut today.  Looks really handsome, as usual.

I did a lot of reading.  I love the “140 days of prayer for our nation” that Dr. Charles Stanley/InTouch.org are doing and I am joining them.  Here’s the letter I received yesterday when I signed up:

Dear Friend,

140 Days of PrayerThank you for joining me in praying for our great country for the next 140 days. As you know, I feel it is immensely important for believers to seriously consider where we are as a nation and understand the dangerous spiritual tide that is engulfing us.
This is because, as Scripture teaches us, "The good influence of godly citizens causes a city to prosper, but the moral decay of the wicked drives it downhill" (Prov. 11:11, LB). We can make a difference by taking up the mantle of prayer.
It is our responsibility as the Body of Christ to stand for truth and cry out to the Lord-asking Him to turn the spiritual tide and save the people of our nation. I am so grateful you've recognized how crucial this is and have joined believers throughout the land before the throne of grace. Download the Prayer Guide PDF to find out the specific things we'll be praying for.
In response to this pledge, we will be sending you an e-mail every Monday of each week, to help you in this important endeavor. Each e-mail will include Scripture and prayer points to help unite us as a body of believers. There will be one e-mail per week for the 140 days--so it may take up to seven days to receive your first e-mail. If you have missed any of these important updates, click here to view the e-mail archive. May God richly bless you as you follow Him in obedience.

Prayerfully yours,

Charles F. Stanley

I encourage everyone to join this prayer team for our nation.

Today, Saturday, has been another very hot day, too hot to do much of anything.

We received an email from JoAnne Miller who we met our first winter in Arizona.  She wrote of a prayer request:  “Please Pray for our daughter Steph in Omaha, as she is having some facial problems with tremors, and is seeing all kinds of doctors and had a MRI today and is on a medication  for the tremors, but they are unsure of what is going on.  She is so busy with her 3 boys, that she is running all the time. Please pray that they will find what is causing these tremors.  It affects her talking, too.”  Thank you for praying for Steph.  Our Quail Run friends will remember JoAnne and Don’s delightful daughter, Pam. “Pam bowled in the State Special Olympics last Sat. and got a gold.  She got 1st in her division.  She was so excited and, of course, so was her mother.” Congratulations, Pam!!

Tonight, we had Dennis and Sally Maloney000_0003  and Joel and Linda Floto000_0002 over for dinner and a little Zilch.  Sally brought a wonderful fruit salad and Linda brought BBQ ribs and Joel made a loaf of wonderful jalapeno/cheese bread.  Don grilled pork steaks with pineapple and onion rings and I made pasta salad and fresh green beans with new red potatoes that Don bought this morning.  All very delicious.  We did good!!

We played three games of Zilch;  LaVon – 1; Dennis – 1; Linda – 1.  That means the girls won the night!  Yeah, Ladies!!  We’re so blessed with such wonderful, fun friends.

I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make its boast in the Lord;
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt His name together. . .
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
(Psalm 34:1-3, 8).
