… when we leave this area and the BUFFALO!
Sorry, I’m just fascinated with how many are in this herd and wondering what the owners are going to do with them.
Friends Walt and Diana Davis rode over this evening and took us to dinner at a place just down the road.
Well, we actually followed them in our truck, understandably.
They do love their modified Honda Gold Wing. Walt said of the friends they ride with who drive Harleys that he always asks them to let him start his bike first so he can tell that it’s running…. it’s so quiet. He’s funny. Looks like fun, doesn’t it?!
Thanks for dinner, Diana! We are so glad we got to spend a little more time together.
Mama Trudy called yesterday to tell me that she had just received a letter from a collection agency regarding the apartment she lived in in Norman. This was the first correspondence she had received…. no letter or statement from the apartment complex office. The letter claimed she owed $500 for breaking her lease. So, after praying, Don and I made a little trip over to that office today to find out what was going on. We were not surprised to find that the former manager was no longer employed there and the new manager was so nice and said that since mother had lived there almost three years, and because she was a senior citizen, she was not required to pay that $500 fee… her name should never have gotten to the collection agency. We did go to mama’s doctor and got a letter stating that she needed to be closer to relatives and that was faxed to the collection agency along with a letter from the manager telling them to cease all efforts to collect from Mama. Needless to say, I really liked that lady, Bethany. Don and I were both a little upset that they had sent this to a collection agency without even letting Mama know. As a little background, Mama had gone in before moving, thirty days prior, and the office couldn’t find any of her paper work, so she left her forwarding address… she was not trying to get out of paying anything she owed. She also went back to the office the day she moved and they were like, “don’t worry about it.” So she was a little shook when she got the collection letter, but because of what the lease agreement said, she wasn’t surprised. She just didn’t know that it didn’t apply to senior citizens for this company. Anyway, we give God the glory and praise for this situation turning out so well.
We will see Mama Trudy next week as we pull out in the morning headed toward Georgia! I can hardly wait to see her. [This picture was taken May 26, 2009, exactly one month before her 91st birthday. We plan to be with her on her 92nd birthday. The lovely blonde on the right is my niece, Tammy, visiting from Washington.]
We have a couple of prayer requests:
1. Travel safety.
2. Don will be preaching Sunday morning.
3. God’s leading as we visit new territory and search out new RV parks and campgrounds for summer assignments for CRM chaplains.
4. CRM International – lots of wonderful possibilities for ministry and a home base for Chaplain U and other training and meetings. Pray that we would follow God’s directing and praise Him for His provision.
Psalm 91:4 He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
