Let’s see… what happened today?
It’s Wednesday, so Don wrote Sunday’s Coming and I got it emailed this morning.
While checking my emails and FaceBook, a great friend, Don Paul, sent me and instant message telling me that he and wife, Terri, have been called by the Lord to move to Portland, Oregon to help plant a church. This was very exciting news, but to tell the truth, I was not surprised that the Paul’s were called to this ministry. Don starts his new job in Portland on the first of August and we’re praying for their transition and for minimal culture shock, especially for fifteen year old son, Zak. Background: I met Don Paul in 1991 when he was recruiting LaNae to play basketball at the University of Oklahoma. I have always admired Don’s integrity and Christian character. Don and Terri have two older sons, one married and working, the other just graduated from the University of Arkansas. We’re expecting to hear exciting things from them in the future.
Mama Trudy called and said she had just put the squash dressing in the oven for lunch. Don made a salad and we went to Mama’s for lunch. Mama added black-eyed peas to our meal… cantaloupe, tomato/cucumber salad, and pasta salad left from yesterday. We enjoyed our ‘gourmet’ meal.
After lunch, Don called Tom DeRosa at the KOA in Southaven, Michigan. Tom and wife, Libby, are looking forward to meeting us in July and discussing a CRM chaplain for their park next summer. We haven’t even arrive in Michigan and already we may have a summer assignment lined up. God is good and we are praying to find more chaplain assignments in Michigan while we are there. Thanks to sweet friend, Joyce Cooley, for leading us to the DeRosa’s.
This afternoon, Don wanted to find the landing area where the glider landed yesterday, so after doing a little online research, I found the address and away we went on another adventure.
We are continuously surprised at how populated the rural areas are and how beautiful the homes are. There was a huge swimming pool behind this house with a high diving board.
We found it…. the Lookout Mountain Hang Gliding strip.
This doesn’t look much like a hangar and we didn’t see an airplane, but there are several building on this property that might house a small plane.
Looking up on the ridge, we realized where we were on the rocks yesterday, so I zoomed in for a picture of the spot.
That’s the pad the gliders take-off from, just a few feet down from “our spot.”
Since there wasn’t much going on down on the air strip and we noticed people up on the ledge, Don decided to go back up there. It looked hopeful. There were gliders set up and ready.
But the people on the pad didn’t have gliders and we found out that the wind wasn’t right for gliding.
I took a few more picture of where we had just been a few minutes before.
Later this afternoon, Don said, “come on, let’s go to the creek.”
“Hello, Mrs. Dragonfly. What big eyes you have.”"
The creek water feels so cool to hot feet.
The mowers have destroyed the Kildeer’s nest, we’re sure. They look so lost and just keep wandering around, calling.
The fountain in the middle of the pond.
These were all taken at the landing area. I can’t decide if these are supposed to look like this or they’ve had a hail storm here.
Ephesians 1:3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.

Sounds like you are having a great time in Georgia! Love to watch the hang gliders, watched a friend crash one in a tree, he was OK that time, next time he wasn't so lucky....
