Laundry day for me. Men's Bible Study for Don.
I met a lady this morning while doing laundry who said she hasn't been to church this winter. She admitted that she's very bitter about her grandson getting killed in a car wreck after getting home from Iraq for 15 months. We chatted for a while and she said she needed to get back to church and I encouraged her. She said she would probably be in church Sunday. Pray for her. Her bitterness is understandable, but not healthy for her, as we all know.
Tonight, we had a block party hosted by Linda and Alan two doors down. They own the lot they're parked on and this vacant lot which was great for the get-together. We met people we haven't met before. That's Rosemarie in the green shirt standing under the umbrella. She said grace before the meal and then when she met us and found out that Don was the park chaplain, she just felt bad that she had said the prayer. We were thrilled that there was prayer before the meal... we didn't care who prayed it. She's a really nice lady. Pat and Slim. She's the little cutie that gave me my first and only golf lesson. Slim, and Don and Jean. They live next door. We were surrounded by people from Minnesota. They sure are good folks. Spencer was a perfect gentleman. The block party started at 5:00 PM and pretty soon it was .... Looks like there's a fire inside Jim and Toma's house. Oh, look! There's Don sitting on our patio across the street. While I was taking pictures of the sunset, he carried our chairs back home. One more. Everyone left the park party to go to the Jam Session at the Community Center. Well, not everyone. We stayed home and Don watched the OU/Missou basketball game, if that's what you call it. I watched American Idol. Scott McIntyre made it through to the final twelve. Of course, Scott also made the Phoenix news tonight.
We have two ladies in the park having cataract surgery in the morning. We also have people facing chemo or radiation treatment for various types of cancer.
We're thrilled to report that our friend, Dan Rominger, from Springfield, MO. had a successful surgery today. The malignant mass was removed from his liver and they got all of it. It will not need to have radiation or chemo. Praise the Lord.
Blessings to you all.
