After choir practice, I walked back to the Quantum and on the way, I passed Slim and Pat's place and Slim was hard at work cleaning the railings on their patio. He looked up and we chatted and I realized he was having a difficult time removing the extra sand embedded caulking. I rushed to the 5'er and got our spray bottle of Awesome Cleaner and an old rag and went back to see if that would do the trick. It did! Don went with me and took this picture of me actually working. Funny. They were cleaning for and expecting guests, so we left Slim the bottle of Awesome and came home. In the short time we were gone, this mama dove and her two young'uns had made themselves at home on our patio rug. Look who's in the cactus garden. Toma. I have to admit, I have seen some pretty bizarre looking plants and here's another one. This one is struggling to live after a light freeze earlier this winter. Feather-leaf cassia Silver-leaf cassia Lunch was at BeDillon's Restaurant. We haven't been there this year until today. Notice the hand drills on the wall behind Don. Notice also, Don's new glasses that just arrived from Zenni Optical. (His old ones broke and we ordered these online.)
Out front at BeDillon's are many interesting items. This running water feature is one. A foot operated axe sharpener. The "wall" fence around BeDillon's is made mostly with handmade sand and straw bricks. One the way back to the park, we passed the dairy and a huge flock of yellow-headed black birds, which we had never seen before. It was amazing! They are common in the northern states and are probably migrating. Don stopped the truck and went back so I could get these pictures. It's my guess that the bird in the lower right is a female. Really showy, isn't he? It was difficult to get a good picture of a bunch of them. When we drove close, they all flew to a different tree or utility line and pole. Finally, I got this really good shot, with the zoom. This fella was wandering around the dairy so proudly, I couldn't resist taking his picture. Early evening found us at Jim and Toma's with the laptop showing them the pictures of the yellow-headed black birds. They invited us to stay and play a game of Nil. Toma's park model is decorated as beautifully as her garden.
Girls, three. Guys, zero. That was fun!!!
