Johnny Magic

It's was so good to see Pat & Bobby Tomme over at KOA this morning.100_6413 That's Ralph on the right, owner of KOA Branson.  We met Pat & Bobby last summer and this summer they are back as workampers again... Pat in the kitchen and Bobby is the park ambassador.  Perfect positions for both of them.100_6414 And then we saw Cathy, also here last summer and worshipped with us every Sunday.  She works in the kitchen also... a honey of a worker.100_6415 This is the front of the activities/convention center where Don will preach every Sunday morning at 11:00.100_6417  From breakfast at KOA, we went to the Country Mart grocery store where I saw this license plate.  Pretty clever. This evening, we had a cook-out over at Bubby and Lucy's site. 100_6419 It's takes three: Glen, Don & Bubba to cook steaks. 100_6420Bubba says, "I just love to break bread with friends."  Where's the bread? 100_6424 After a delicious meal, we sat around the patio and visited until Lucy's dinner settled enough for us to take a walk around the park.

This is the office building here.100_6429  These strange blooms have a very strong, sweet smell that drifts on the breeze around here. 100_6427 While Lucy and I were walking, we met Johnny, who Lucy and Bubba had already met.  He's staying a few sites down from them.  We invited Johnny to sit down and chat with us.  Really we wanted to ask him a bajillion questions about his work and his life.  Johnny "Magic" Haver, 24, is a self-taught magician and has a magic act in the morning variety show at the Grand Country Theater here in Branson.  He does an act with yellow canaries.  Every time Jimmy (Bubba) would asked him a question, like "where does the canary go when it disappears?" Johnny would say, "I know, that bugs me, too."  He had so many stories to tell and funny one-liners galore.  Of course, I got a couple of pictures of Johnny Magic... are you kidding me?, he's cute!! So when you come to Branson, you have to catch the Morning Show at the Grand Country Theater.100_6431 Johnny grew up in a small community in east Texas called Big Sandy where he was home-schooled and the son of a nondenominational preacher.  He's been a lot of places in a lot of states with his act.  He told us that he was working with a tiger in a show in Norman, OK in 2003 when the cat got spooked and backed off the stage into the orchestra pit, which cleared very quickly.  The story made the evening news.100_6432

We've made a new friend and will visit with Johnny again.  He seemed excited about their being church here in the park.  He's got plans already for this Sunday, but said he would be coming.  We really had a good time with this kid.
