I was thrilled Saturday night when Rick Fury told me he felt well enough to help me with leading singing Sunday morning. Rick is a born leader and we are going to miss him and Wendy when we leave here. Let's get your blog going Wendy!
There was a birthday party yesterday for the 98th year old mother of Joyce Cooley, who works in the office here. Etta "Ma'am" Hope enjoyed all the well wishers and birthday cake. Here's Ma'am with daughters Joyce & Carol. Isn't she a beautiful 98? Rick Fury caught enjoying birthday cake and ice cream. Vi is one of Ma'am's best buddies and wouldn't have missed the party for anything.Well, we knew it would happen. Now there is a two hour time diff between us and Oklahoma and this morning at 7:00 (yawn) it was 9:00 in Norman, Ok. when daughter LaNae called. She just wanted to let us know about the excitment they had last night. It seems their watch cat alerted them to someone standing outside their bedroom window. 911 was called but the intruder avoided apprehension. The intruder had scaled a 6 foot privacy fence (gate was locked) to gain entrance to the back yard and also to escape when son-in-law went out the front door to attempt to catch the peeping tom. If there's a next time, Marley the Rhodesian Ridgeback will not be kept inside the house. For the life of us, Don and I can not figure out why they didn't let him out into the back yard immediately. Nae said when the police arrived and they let Marley out, he immediately went to the areas where the intruder had been.
Next, while Don and I were in Casa Grande, I called LaNae and she was in the ER! Why? Her elbow has been really hurting for about three days. Her doctor could not get her in for a week and advised her to go to the ER since she would need xrays anyway. A few minutes later a text message from her: "Elbow is broken." Next stop will be an orthopedic surgeon, with probably a pin being put in. In the mean time, her arm is in a splint and sling. We appreciate your prayers for her.... she's going to nursing school, mom to two, wife, and friend to a very needy mother of four going through a nasty divorce. (Hope that made sense.)
Upon arriving back at Quail Run, Dave told us about Al Winters taking a tumble on top of a mountain close by. Luckily, he broke his fall with his hands. Unfortunately, there was a cactus under his hand and the cactus made the trip back down the mountain with him. After a trip to the ER and few days of antibiotics, Al should be fine. A trick was learned: after the larger needles were removed, they poured Elmer's glue over all the smaller needles, allowing the glue to dry and then it was peeled off bringing the little needles with it and out of Al's hand!
This afternoon, the workampers enjoyed an afternoon of food and games.
Tonight, Cathy & Jack, Rick & Wendy, Dave & Darlene and Don and I went to Pizza Hut for dinner and laughter.... Rick is funny (looking). :-) [open door]
