Pedal

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD.

An unknown author once described his journey of giving God control of his life as a tandem bike ride with Christ in the front.

He said, "When I had control, I knew the way. It was rather boring, but predictable. But when He took the lead, He knew delightful long trails up mountains, and through rocky places at breakneck speeds; it was all I could do to hang on!! Even though it looked like madness, He said, "Pedal!"

I was worried and anxious and asked, "Where are You taking me?" He laughed and didn't answer, and I started to learn to trust. And I'm beginning to enjoy the cool breeze on my face with my delightful constant companion, Christ. And when I'm sure I just can't do anymore, He just smiles and says..."Pedal."

Though we may fear and doubt where God is taking us, when we give Him control, our life will never be the same. We'll begin to find adventure in the midst of adversity, and peace during times of pain. All we have to do is let Him steer our life while we simply pedal.

Give your life to God; He can do more with it than you can!

This devotional confirms what has been happening lately in our family.  I will give you a little background to get you up to speed...

As you know, our daughter Leslie, and her husband have been living apart, for the most part, for fourteen months.  It seemed necessary to sell their home in Waco before Leslie and the kids could move to Round Rock with daddy.  They finally decided to also offer the house to be leased and that fell through a couple of weeks ago.  Disappointment deluxe.  In the past few weeks, Leslie applied and interviewed for a job in Round Rock (not the first job she has applied for) and was offered the position.  The salary was not what they felt like she needed to afford them to rent in Round Rock and continue to pay the mortgage in Waco. (Khalil has been living at the Stadium for free all these months... not an ideal situation to say the least, but free.)  But they decided to step out in faith, knowing that it was God's will for them to be together as a family and feeling strongly that God had provided this job for Leslie, she took it and will begin on June 1.

Last night, Leslie called me to tell me that their Waco house is being shown for sell today around 4:00 PM.  And today, she called to share how else God is providing for them:  the apartment they are renting is not charging them for the rest of May and June and they are deducting $500 from the rent for July!! This provides for child care for Emma and Camden for the rest of the summer. (Emma will be in school later this year.) Already, God is blessing them for stepping out in faith and trusting Him.  Already, their faith has grown.  Even more, their relationship with the Lord is stronger.  And all the glory goes to the One who deserves it!  All these spiritual blessings of experiencing how much God loves and cares for them would not have happened without first their stepping out and trusting Him.  But even those doors were opened by the Father.  It's so exciting to wait on the Lord and watch Him work on our behalf and that's just what we are doing today as the house is being shown to potential buyers.

There is no friend so faithful as our Lord and Savior; no father so loving as our Heavenly Father.
