Are You Sincere

Pause the Playlist before starting this --->> http://solosong.net/elvis1/sincere/sincere.html

Songwriters: Moeller, Lucky; Walker, Wayne

Are you sincere when you say "I love you?"
Are you sincere when you say "I'll be true?"
Do you mean every word that my ears have heard?
I'd like to know which way to go, will our love grow?
Are you sincere? (Are you sincere?)

Are you sincere when you say you miss me? (You miss me)
Are you sincere every time you kiss me? (You kiss me)
And are really mine every day, all the time?
I'd like to know which way to go, will our love grow?
Are you sincere? (Are you sincere?)

Are really mine every day, all the time?
I'd like to know (I'd like to know)
Which way to go (Which way to go)
Will our love grow ? (Will our love grow?)
Are you sincere?

Now... you are probably asking, "Why in the world did LaVon post the lyrics to Are You Sincere?"

I'm glad you asked.

In our visit with Patsy and Shocky this evening, Patsy told us about writing the lyrics to this song when she was a teenager, mailing them to a company of which she got the address out of a teen magazine, receiving numerous letters from the company about publishing her lyrics, but she never responded to the correspondence.  Not long afterwards, Patsy and her dad heard Andy Williams singing the song on the radio.  Shocky and I were amazed.  Patsy still has her original letters to and from the company along with the lyrics she wrote.  She said one or two words were changed, but she's sure whoever took credit for writing these lyrics, stole them from her.  We encouraged her to take everything to an attorney, just out of curiosity, to see what they say about all this.  Patsy doesn't have a vindictive bone in her body and takes responsibility for not responding to the letters from the publishing company.  The fact that they changed a few words will probably be enough to cover them, legally, and keep Patsy from claiming any ownership to the song.  But who knows... it would be interesting to investigate.

To say the least, it's a fun story.
