Oklahoma to Texas

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US!!

Five years ago today… the happy couple.Don & LaVon 1

The groom with Mama Trudy during the reception. DVC00233

Honeymoon on South Padre Island.

Just a little glimpse back to the beginning of the marriage and ministry that God brought together.  Thank you, Hon, for making me feel like we are still on our honeymoon.  I love you.

So today, the happy couple is on the road again.

We got on the road about 8:30 this morning and were blessed with blue skies and not a lot of wind.  Soon we were going through the rolling hills of south Oklahoma.Arbuckle Pass I-35 Oklahoma

Being hungry, we decided to stop at the Flying J and have breakfast, but low and behold, the restaurant was closed.  So….we stopped at the Flying J for our anniversary breakfast and the restaurant was closed!!

we went across the interstate to the IHOP.so we went across the highway to the new IHOP

IHOP parking wasn’t RV friendly, but we parked on the shoulder behind an 18 wheeler.from the IHOP parking lot. Ponder's across the highway has also closed... shut down.. no longer in business

I just passed the time taking pictures of the countryside.100_3078100_3079

For as long as Don or I can remember, some part of I-35 has been under construction.I-35 Oklahoma is ALWAYS under construction

There are a lot of horse farms and ranches in Oklahoma.100_3083

Approaching the border and the Red River.100_3086

That’s the most water that’s been in the Red River in a long time.100_3087

Back in the Lone Star state.100_3088

Just part of Texas’ “drive friendly” motto being encouraged in a big way.100_3089

Past the outlet mall in Gainesville, we exited the interstate and took Texas 51.100_3091

Just a nice scene.100_3092

That’s an odd architectural style for a Comfort Inn in Texas.  Things that make you go hmmmm.wonder who really owns this motel

We have a top latch on a bay door that keeps coming unlatched, so Don stopped to re-latch it.  I took a picture of these Evening Primrose wildflowers while we were stopped.100_3095

Cattle farm.  I like it.100_3096

There was a brand new school behind this building so it’s my guess that this is an old school building.  I like that it has been kept in good repair.100_3097

I love the old church buildings, especially when they are still being used for community worship.100_3098

Love this ranch house.100_3099

From this point, we could see for miles.100_3100

Today is the World Day of Prayer and there is much that needs prayer in our world, but looking at this scene one would think that all is right with the world.100_3102

Goodness.  Let’s just go out here in the country and build a castle.just a humble homestead

Approaching Decatur, Texas.Decatur courthouse in the distance

The courthouse in Decatur.100_3113

The soil here in this part of north Texas is really sandy.100_3115100_3116

The white fences give such a neat look to the farms.100_3118

Part Two will be posted in the next post.  I haven’t had much to take pictures of all winter, so I am really enjoying taking pictures today.
