Day 1

Today was my first half day as a workamper here at Johnson Creek RV Resort.  My work day started at noon, in the office, checking campers in and learning the ropes.  Melinda is teaching me and I’m going to really enjoy working a day and a half each week.

Don grilled pork chops and yellow squash for dinner and served with one of his gorgeous salads.

Over dinner we talked about our individual afternoons.  It was fun to have something to “report” that the other one hadn’t heard or experienced.

After dinner, we took our evening walk.  We love chatting with campers.

There’s a pomegranate bush here!100_3673

As we walked on the bluff near the chapel, Don spotted turkeys way across the creek and up the hill, so far away that it was difficult to get a clear picture.100_3685

And there were deer grazing.100_3682

Park owner, Tom, saw a soft-shell turtle so he got his 20 gauge to shoot it.  I was a bit alarmed, but he explained that the soft-shell turtles eat the small fish in the creek and he didn’t want that.  That long-legged cutie leaning on Tom is his daughter.  Can you imagine growing up in this setting?  She swims in the creek every day and runs around the park on the Polaris. 100_3700

Tom is on a mission. 100_3702

“With this plug of lead in him, that turtle may never get off the bottom of the creek.100_3703

Delanie wanted me to help her with her camera, so Tom was posing for her to take a picture.  He didn’t actually shoot anything. (except one turtle)100_3705

My favorite sunset shot of the evening.100_3695

Romans 15:5-6

May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
