We are so blessed

Tuesday sure missed a golden opportunity for rain.  Early, there were really heavy clouds and much humidity in the air.100_1534

Tree trimmers are busy trimming 100 palms trees this month.100_1535100_1541100_1555

Charlie comes out to chat as we walk by.100_1536

Now here’s a fine “how do you do!”  Three men watching one woman working.100_1538

Here comes Warren.  He just finished playing basketball.  Later in the day, Don found Warren at the tennis courts swinging a very active racquet and keeping a little tennis ball very busy.100_1542

Marlys is on her way home after playing tennis.100_1543

We arrived at our ten o’clock appointment with Ben and Nettie Toews (pronounced Taves)…. a delicious continental breakfast of cinnamon rolls, fresh pineapple, orange slices and hot coffee.  Ben told a story of hosting a couple a few days ago and one of the guests cut a piece of chocolate cream pie in half.  When Ben asked him why he did that, he said, “because I’m on a diet.”  Well, wasn’t that just my perfect excuse to cut a cinnamon roll in half and only eat half.  I did not want to hurt Nettie’s feelings, but I didn’t need a whole roll, either.  God is so good.100_1545

Ben and Nettie are just the sweetest couple from Manitoba.  We just love them and look forward to spending more time with them next winter season.Ben & Nettie Toews from Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada

As we left Ben and Nettie’s, we met Donna just starting her walk around the park, so I joined her and Don went on his way.

We don’t have many squirrels here in the RGV.100_1547

It is definitely Spring in the RGV.  Lovely pink Oleander blooms. 100_1548

Golden Hibiscus.100_1549

Roses are plentiful.100_1552

The magenta color of this bougainvillea is so vibrant it is almost fluorescent. 100_1558 100_1562100_1561

This is not the only trailer or vehicle we saw being loaded as folks are preparing to leave the Tip for the summer.100_1553

We don’t see many of these in the park and this pretty one happens to be a stray.100_1554

Palm trees are usually so tall that I can’t see what’s going on up there, but this one is just my height! 100_1566

Who knew about all the springtime activity up in the palm trees???100_1563100_1564100_1565

To cap off a really nice day, our Creator paints a beautiful RGV sunset.100_1568 100_1569 100_1570100_1571

“Have you ever wondered why God gives so much?  We could exist on far less.  He could have left the world flat and gray; we wouldn’t have known the difference.  But He didn’t.

He splashed orange in the sunrise (sunset)

and cast the sky in blue,

And if you love to see geese as they gather,

chances are you’ll see that too.

Did He have to make the squirrel’s tail furry?

Was He obliged to make the birds sing?

And the funny way that chickens scurry

or the majesty of thunder when it rings?

Why give a flower fragrance?

Why give food it’s taste?

Could it be

He loves to see

that look upon your face?

You take the most awesome pictures of flowers! Thanks for sharing. I've been pretty negligent about reading posts & updating mine, but I'm working on it. Life is getting a little less busy here now. We should have some down time soon. Think of you often.
