Still in Kentucky this morning, but not far from the Indiana border.
Got Sunday’s Coming posted for Don to his blog while on the road. He writes it early, usually before I get up and emails it to me. Then I copy and post it to his blog.
When we started out this morning, the clouds where almost on the ground… I guess that would be called “fog.” The skies are sunny this morning as we approach Louisville.
Crossing the Ohio River that flows through Louisville.
Must be Billboard Row. (It’s pretty hazy/smoggy in parts of Louisville.)
About the seven-mile-marker, we realized we had missed the sign announcing our entrance into Indiana. So pretend this says “Welcome to Indiana and Enjoy the Corn!”
About here, I realized we were going through Indianapolis, so I called my forever friend, Liz, and we made plans to meet for lunch. I should have realized this yesterday and called her then!
There are some beautiful farms in Indiana.
It was a little challenging, but we made the connection with Liz! I’m so glad I took this picture as she got out of her car… it’s a classic Liz look. It was wonderful visiting with her over lunch and we talked non-stop… well, she talked while I tried to eat my salad. We made plans to stop again on our way from Michigan to Branson in August.
How sad. This beautiful church is closed and the building is for sale.
The corn fields are just beautiful here.
Because of our stop in Indianapolis with Liz, we reached our evening destination a little later than usual, but it was all good. We’re at the Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in Plymouth, Indiana. We wouldn’t recommend it, but it was okay for just one night. It’s a big park with over 1,000 sites. Don got out and walked around; found the fishing pond. There are a lot of old park models and RV’s here. I stayed inside where it’s cool. It’s early to bed for me tonight.
DAILY VERSE
But those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint. --Isaiah 40:31
DAILY QUOTE
When God is our strength, it is strength indeed; when our strength is our own, it is only weakness.--St. Augustine
DAILY THOUGHT
In a world that can wear us down mentally, physically, and spiritually, how do we renew our strength? What do we do in the face of too many projects, too many temptations, too many conflicts, and too many other soul and energy-sapping dynamics at work in life?
The prophet Isaiah ministered to a nation on the verge of collapse. It wasn't just the acute threat from foreign powers - though that was an obvious stressor - but the once proud and righteous country was sinking in a mire created by its own cynicism and corruption. His antidote to spiritual fatigue was simple: Hope in the Lord.
Others might help you. Great. But don't put your hope in them. You might be able to muster some more determination to get the job done. Wonderful. But don't even place your hope in yourself. The only place to turn for a renewed spirit is the One who has given you every good and perfect gift, including any strength or talent you were born with. What a wonderful promise that we can run without growing weary!
So how is your day? How has your week been going? How does this month look to be shaping up for you? Are you hopeful and inspired? Or are you discouraged? Either way, place your hope in the Lord and let Him give you a supernatural strength.
Heavenly Father, You truly are the source of my hope for today, tomorrow, and all the days ahead of me. Thank You. Amen.
