Don wanted to go to lunch was hungry, so we drove down to Rising Fawn, about five miles to the Depot Diner. I wondered why the name and then… the train went by. It’s right by the railroad track. Food was good, too.
A couple from Alabama pulled up to the Diner just as we were leaving. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe they are from Georgia, but are Alabama fans. We are very near the Alabama border, so they’re probably from Alabama. Whew! Glad I finally got that settled. You would have lost sleep wondering, wouldn’t you?
Don was great today, driving around, slowing down, stopping, so I could take pictures. The next four pictures are of old barns. Old buildings are everywhere here!
We continue to be amazed at how many houses are up in the mountains. People in the country do not lack for neighbors. Gorgeous places.
Our guess is that this was built in the 1930’s or ‘40’s and was a school building. It’s been added to and is now a residence. I would love to tour inside.
This house is neighbor to the above residence. It also appears to have been added to.
We noticed that most houses in the mountains have wells/pump houses.
To me, a strange roof line for a house with columns and balcony.
We also really like the log houses and the rustic board houses.
Looks like it’s right out of a Georgia historical novel.
Sure would like to know where this fancy gate and concrete driveway lead to.
That’s our one hour tour for the day. (Isn’t the English language strange? Why isn’t hour pronounce like tour and your? Or why is your and tour pronounced like hour? And why is our and hour pronounced the same? Strange.)
Next, to Mama Trudy’s to play Shoot the Moon dominoes and go to the grocery store for her and pick up our mail. We also purchased a few groceries, so back to the Q.
Tomorrow…. LaVon is cooking. Look out!!!
I’m presently reading Discoveries/The Burden Is Light/Early Will I Seek Thee by Eugenia Price. It is really causing me to…
Think About It…
Jesus did not say, just before He went to sit at the right hand of the Father, “Go and save men.” He said: “Go and make disciples of men!” As I see it, a disciple is one who learns. One who puts himself in position to learn, and above all, one who is will to learn. Does that include us? Are we in position to learn about Him? Or are we locked up, bolted down within the rigid confines of our own creed and unable to see beyond it into the breath-taking distances of God? Are we devoted to the task of bringing others into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? Or are we bound and determined to bring them into agreement with ourselves? – from Chapter 1 – His Viewpoint or Mine? pg. 13
