First, before we get to the green desert, I had to go to choir practice. Got a good shot of our wonderful pianist, Lorna Hillery.
And just as I clicked this shot of Linnea, directing, she turned her head and looked right at me, making it an even better shot. I didn't get the picture of her shaking her finger at me and grinning.
After choir practice, Don and I walked around the cactus garden. More cactus are blooming.
All the different varieties of prickly pear are so fat and full of water from the rain we've had here this year.
A toothpick cactus from the Saguaro family, just not as tall.
Jim and Toma planted this twin Saguaro about nine years ago. It's almost as tall as me.
We wanted to take Linda and Bob Olson to lunch and they have never been to.... guess where? The Creative Cafe, of course!!
After lunch, Don wanted to show Linda and Bo some of the surrounding area. We saw this huge dust devil in the distance. I don't think I have ever seen one this big. It could be seen from miles away.
We finally made it to the mountain where we had been told there were petroglyph on the rocks.
Cactus blooms in the cactus garden are beautiful, but there is just something even more amazing about the cactus blooms in the wild desert.
Bob was enjoying the scenery, too.
I hope you enjoy the following pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.
A cholla made itself welcome to my shoe.
Claret cup hedgehog and blue lupines.
Finally, we found the petroglyphs.
We saw one! And I got a picture of it. A big Jack Rabbit.
Don was picking up rocks and hollering for Norm. This one had sparkles all on this side.
Oh my! A huge Saguaro broke recently, it appears, and fell into the road.
Bob, taking a picture of the stump.
Linda examines why this Saguaro may have broken. Sort of looks like it had a disease all around in this area.
One last shot of the green desert. We even saw cows grazing up on this mountain.
