The weekend

It’s been a full weekend.

Yesterday, Joel and Linda came over for lunch and a couple of games of Zilch a.k.a. Stupid Game!  Yours Truly is in a slump.  Stupid Game!!!  But we did laugh a lot.

Today ….

I’m rather proud of myself…. I caught the Sunday Sunrise. Sunday Sunrise

Don had a little heart racing episode before church this morning, but calmed down once he got up to preach.  “My grace is sufficient….”  Monte Berend always prays with Don before church and we appreciate that very much.  Monte noticed that Don wasn’t his usual ‘self’ and prayed accordingly.  God answered and the rest of the day has been good.  Sermon was great, “Obedience Brings Blessings,” with text from Luke 5:1- “

1Now it came to pass, while the multitude pressed upon him and heard the word of God, that he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret; 2and he saw two boats standing by the lake: but the fishermen had gone out of them, and were washing their nets. 3And he entered into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the multitudes out of the boat. 4And when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. 5And Simon answered and said, Master, we toiled all night, and took nothing: but at thy word I will let down the nets. 6And when they had done this, they enclosed a great multitude of fishes; and their nets were breaking; 7and they beckoned unto their partners in the other boat, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. 8But Simon Peter, when he saw it, fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. 9For he was amazed, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken; 10and so were also James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. 11And when they had brought their boats to land, they left all, and followed him.

Can you find the place where Simon Peter was obedient in the little things?

Can you see how Simon Peter’s obedience affected him?… others?…  how many others?  His obedience affects us even today and will affect others in the future.

Why are we afraid to be obedient when Jesus said, “Fear not.”?

After church, John and Nancy100_0393 invited us to Brunch at...for brunch. Wonderful find!  And the 20 minute wait wasn’t too bad.

Don blessed the cake and ice cream.  I served the cake and ice cream and took a few pictures.

Don’s recliner and the couch was calling our names, so we answered and took a nap to the football game on TV.  Poor Bears.

We went to Applebee’s for dinner.  We rarely cook on Sunday.  Ate dinner to the football game.  Poor Jets.

Speaking of sympathy, granddaughter Lydia had to go to the ER during the night… couldn’t breathe.  Had two panic attacks (she’s 13!), strep throat, tonsillitis, and the flu.  Her throat was hurting so bad they gave her a dose of morphine and about five other medications.  Before she left the ER there were “big yellow and black bugs flying around” and “turn off the sun, it’s too bright in here.”  Poor little thing.  She needs a Nonna hug.  Needless to say she will not be going to school tomorrow and maybe the next day.

Nephew Timmy was wed today in a small ceremony in Tennessee.  My brother, Timmy’s dad, officiated. Congratulations Timmy and Welcome to the family Jessica.  We can’t wait to meet you.  Also can’t wait to see wedding pictures.

Choir director Jane rode her bicycle over and visited for about an hour this afternoon.  She sure has very interesting stories from her days as a teacher and just her life in general.  What a spunky lady.

That’s our weekend, in a large nutshell.

We are so blessed.
