And no, we aren’t at a football game.
This is what happens to a tailgate if you leave it shut while unhooking from the Q. Yes, friends, family and folks who love me very much…. I did that. Not a proud moment for yours truly.
Now… the tailgate will not latch and we can’t pull the Q with it open, so we have ordered a vented 5th wheel tailgate. Having it shipped to Waco and we will put it on when we get there in a week or so.
OK, let’s flashback to last night: After dinner, Don begin feeling really yucky again, so he went to bed. That didn’t work out for him… reflux. From that point on he was really sick all night… stomach and I won’t be more graphic than that. He got up and was in his recliner the rest of the night. Around 9:00 this morning, he finally laid down on the bed and went to sleep.
I called the park office to find out the very latest that we could leave as we have to move the Q out of our site today. I was told we could stay until 2:00 PM. That’s good. So I begin getting the Q ready to roll, doing everything but disconnecting hoses and cords. Don woke up about 12:30, still feeling rough and weak, but he showered, got dressed and finished getting the Q ready to go.
We pulled about 12 miles to the church parking lot down the road from Stephanie’s. That’s where the above happened. Trying to be helpful, I closed the tailgate and Don told me to get in and pull forward. We were both brain dead, but he has a very good excuse, feeling so bad. I don’t know what I was thinking! Wasn’t.
Count it all joy! Satan is trying to steal our joy, but that didn’t work. We are still praising God. Good will come from this fiasco.

I am praising God, with you. Do not let Satan steal your joy. I think the new tailgate will work out wonderful. You will both be saying in no time, "we should have gotten one of these a long time ago!" "Count it all Joy". Love you lots, NoPo & LoPo
Anyone who has had a 5th wheel has done this. We all say, "Shucky Darn" when it happens and then buy a tailgate like the one you will have installed in Waco. Don't feel bad it just comes with the territory.
Love you and hope that Don is feeling better.
Hmmm. Just remember, that little ol' dip in the new tailgate doesn't always work either. Ask Bill. It's best to leave it down when backing in or pulling out. He thought he could miss it one night when we were parking & ooops. The dent! Oh well, better than an awning! I'm on #3!!!
