We were rolling out of the park around 10:00 this morning. The Angel Camp RV Park on Highway 271 near Powderly, Texas, is a really nice park. A little pricey, at $30 a night, but they gave the Good Sam discount if you said you were a God Sam member. We are, so that was $3 off… still more than we usually pay for a night, but we’ll make it up later today.
Laundry, showers, lending library are in this nice building across the park from our site.
Don has finished tightening the lug bolts and is ready to go.
Around the loop at Paris, Texas and down the road, it wasn’t long before we were in the black lands of north Texas.
At Sulfur Springs, we crossed Interstate 20.
Yes, this looks like the Texas I grew up in.
It didn’t take us long at all to go the 100 plus miles to Canton, Texas, home of the First Monday Trade Days. We missed First Monday… that was last weekend. We could not get over how many covered pavilions there are here.
We were soon in our park, home for three nights at $10 a night… now that’s more like it! It’s a Passport America park and any campers they have on any days after First Monday is gravy for them. Last weekend, we could not have found a site here. This weekend, well, we had our pick. So quiet and peaceful.
We spotted a great veggie stand not far from our park.
Mums… the sign that it’s fall in Texas.
Through the trees behind our site, we could see water, so Don and I took a hike.
I spotted a brief hint of autumn color through the trees.
We arrived at the man-made lake.
On the way to Kaufman, I was able to get this beautiful duo as we sped by.
Finally, the highlight of my day… seeing my forever friend, Linda! Let me introduce you to more of her family. You met Shonda, her daughter, yesterday. In this picture are Christy (daughter-in-law), Tim (son), Chris (grandson and son of Linda’s oldest son, Trevor), Don and me, Linda and Tim and Christy’s daughter, Mattie, and an oh my goodness senior in high school. We all visited at Linda’s house for a couple of hours and then went to Denny’s for dinner. There’s a Denny’s in Kaufman, Texas now!!!!
What a wonderful day. Thank you, Lord, and thank you, Don, for blessing my socks off.
