Fabulous Friday For Friends

The lighter area in the lake shows where the current was moving this morning.100_3886

Don and I enjoyed our walk together this morning.  This park is a great park to tent camp in.100_3887

I didn’t notice a fifth-wheel hitch in this pick-up.  Too bad. 100_3888

Views along our walking route.100_3889100_3890100_3891100_3892

Now, that is one serious fishing boat!100_3893-1

Look at the motor on that baby.  Don said that a fishermen can stand up on that platform on the back and deep sea fish.  There’s a holder for his fishing rod on one side and his water bottle on the other.100_3894

A Texas Ranger (baseball) fan is parked here.100_3895

See?  A Texas Ranger flag.  Go RANGERS!!!! Beat the yankees!!100_3895-2

Ranger fan came out to visit with us.  Well, he was already out and we gave him a ‘holla’ so he came out to the street to chat.  It’s so fun to learn about folks.  He and Don had pop bottling in common in their backgrounds.100_3896

Another view of the bridge over the lake.  It is another gorgeous day.100_3897

It is a great day to meet a new friend.  For over a year now, I have been following RV There Yet, the blog owned and created by Stephanie Conrad from Pennsylvania.  Our good friend, Nancy Reid, hooked me up with Stephanie and RV There Yet as Stephanie and her hubby are SOWERS with George and Nancy.  The bizarre thing is that Stephanie and Gary’s daughter, Lara, lives in Waco!  And they are here today doing a surprise project in Lara’s backyard while Lara is out of town.  Steph and I made plans via FaceBook and this morning I called her to let her know that Don and I would be bringing sandwiches over to share their lunch break with them.  We had a wonderful meeting and visit, but we didn’t tarry too long as we didn’t want to detain them from getting their project finished.  Hopefully, we will connect with them again next weekend and meet Lara.

Stephanie had to really be coerced into letting me take her picture as she had on her working clothes and hair, but I’m very persuasive. Just had to document our first meeting.  First picture: “wait, Gary, we’re not ready.” 100_3898-2 Second picture: “Ready.”      100_3899-2

Don’t forget to leave a comment, Stephanie!!

Back at the Q, Don decided to sit outside and enjoy the nice afternoon.  In a bit, he knocked on the side of the Q.  This means that there is someone outside that Don wants me to see.  Sure enough, the gentleman introduced himself as Lloyd Simpson from Blooming Grove, the community 100_3900where I grew up.  The next thirty minutes or so, was so much fun as Lloyd named off relatives and people that I knew or know.  He played football with my step-brother, Trim, was  in the army with him and also went to Texas Tech with the same step-brother.  They worked together laying tile to earn their money to go to college.  Lloyd’s dad, also Lloyd, was a barber in Blooming Grove for many years.  OK, this is all information that interests no one but me, so I’ll just say we had a good time visiting with Lloyd who is parked next door for a few days.

And it was another fine day, as I said earlier, for meeting new people and making new friends.

Dinner was with Leslie and fam.  She made a fantastic penne pasta dish, salad wedges and garlic bread sticks. Followed by watching a game that started out great and ended in the …. well, our team lost by one point, blowing a 5-0 lead.

It was still a Fabulous Friday.
