Our great and mighty God has certainly blessed us with perfect traveling weather. This morning is another beautiful morning as we pull out of the Eagle's Nest. On every travel day, we get into the truck and pray and praise the LORD before we move an inch.
As we leave Van Horn, I will just tell you that I learned that quite a few movies have been partially filmed in or near this town, including Lonesome Dove.
Out on I-10, the scenery is still photographic (I tried 'photographable' and spell-checker didn't like it) The hills have turned into medium-sized mountains and the time has changed to Mountain Time. The train track runs fairly parallel to I-10 for many miles. Sierra Blanca, Texas has placed their initials on this hill. Soon we are in the Rio Grande Valley where there are miles and miles of farm land. El Paso, Texas Juarez, Old Mexico on the south side of I-10... El Paso, Texas on the north side.
And it's not even noon yet... Mountain Time. Lots of pecan orchards on this route in New Mexico. It's a giant roadrunner! God bless the companies that still trust Him. I'm sure there's an explanation, but I don't have it. Sure is colorful, though. Boy, this sure looks familiar. You wouldn't believe how many pictures of trains I took... well, maybe you would. Every engine has it's own number. Love the flag. Don likes this slogan. For mama. This must be really old. It was parked at a new gas station. Water?! More water? This ghost town was advertised along the route. Intrigues me. Three states in one day! Don thinks this is snow on top of the mountain. I think he may be right. This dead tree was glistening in the sun. We were getting tired, so we stopped in Willcox at the Magic Circle RV Park. Nice park. We weren't the only ones here. We didn't want to unhook from the truck, so we walked across the highway to the truck stop for dinner, about a mile round trip. Felt good to walk after being in the truck for two days. The sun had set when we walked back to the park.
We are only a few hours from Casa Grande, our destination for four months, so we will take our time in the morning... no rush.
Happy New Year blessings to each and everyone!
