After choir practice, I visited with a few people on the way back to the Q on my bike. Yes! I'm back on the bike! Anyway, when I got home, Don had made a wonderful pot of bean soup, so I whipped up some cornbread to go with and we had a wonderful lunch.
About 12:40 PM, Don called the pacemaker people and they did another check over the phone. Don was told that his pacemaker started failing some time between November and December and from that point he has three months to get it placed. Normally, the pacemaker people would call the VA in OKC and the VA would contact Don and make and appointment for the surgery. For some unknown reason, that call was never made from the pacemaker people until his next check that they scheduled for February. At that point, the pacemaker people called the VA in OKC who immediately called Don and Don then called the VA clinic in Casa Grande who called the cardiologist at the VA hospital in Tucson. Are you confused yet? Well, long story short, Don spoke with a gentleman at the pacemaker place in California today and he was quite alarmed that Don's pacemaker had not yet been replaced, so he called the cardiologist in Tucson and got the "ball rolling," we think. Don has an appointment with her next Tuesday at 2:00 PM. We should have a surgery date after that.
Don and I spent about an hour over at Linnea and Fran's this afternoon, visiting. Love those two.
Wendy and Rick called this evening and we met in Casa Grande for dinner and then we all came back to the Q for a game of cards. The guys won... again. And Rick won the game of Zilch we played.
We are so blessed with wonderful friends.
