We were about out of drinking water, so we headed for Casa Grande.
Do you remember the sheep we saw being herded down and across the highway? This is the field where they were going. In the following couple of weeks that herd of sheep grazed the alfalfa down to the ground. Now, after the rains and with days under the big yellow light, the sheep have been moved down the road to another field and this one is once again green and growing new alfalfa. In the background, the grandstands to a round track on the fairgrounds.
Two weeks later, water is still standing in many places in the desert.
Just a going down the road picture NW of Casa Grande.
We went to Fry's for a few grocery items and new one gallon water jugs. We purchase reverse osmosis filtered water for fifteen to twenty-five cents a gallon, so we need substantial water jugs.
Going back to the Q, we passed this field where manure from the nearby dairy, had just been spread. Don't breathe!
How the dairy cows are fed the yummy alfalfa hay so they can make new 'fertilizer' for the fields. The red machine pulled by the John Deere tractor is dispensing the coarsely mulched hay.
Don created the most delicious desert this evening, consisting of strawberries, blue berries and apply slices macerated in balsamic vinegar and a little sugar and served under a vanilla yogurt/lemon curd sauce. You'll have to ask Don about the quantities, but you can ask me about the taste.... we will have this treat again and again and again..... you get the picture. Oh, picture. Sorry, it was long gone before I thought about the camera.
Pardon me while I brag on my great-nephew a little. He's quite the baseball player and his dad has created a video to send to college coaches who are recruiting him. You're welcome to check it out on my niece's blog.<<
And since I'm in the bragging mood, here's a couple of digital scrap pages by daughter, Leslie, of Kindergarten Emma, with her front tooth missing and Camden cleaning his bathroom floor with baby powder. Oooops.
Tomorrow... the Queen Creek Olive Mill with Lori and Norm!
