Pharr to Victoria

Here’s our day of travel in pictures:

We got on the road about 9:00 this morning.  Skies were overcast and a brisk wind blowing out of the southeast.100_1824

It was long until we reached the border patrol check point.Border Patrol check point

I got a good picture of one of the drug dogs. border patrol dug dog

Traveling through the King Ranch, I thought it odd to see a random palm tree out in the pasture.  100_1832

Our first time through Kingsville, Texas.100_1842

Two huge flags blowing in the wind could be seen miles away.2011 Apr 18 Pharr to Victoria1-1

We stopped to get gas and I couldn’t help noticing this.  Shouldn’t be too hard to do. :-) 100_1861

We notice a helicopter flying in the opposite direction.100_1865

And then it turned and came our direction. 100_1863

It was just going in a big oval.100_1866

What?  No doors?100_1866-1

And across the highway, another mode of transportation.100_1867 100_1868

We arrived at the Lazy Longhorn RV Park early and made contact with friends, Gary and Julie, who moved to Victoria from Oklahoma several years ago.100_1869

Gary came to get us when he got off work and took us out to there place.  This a view from their back yard. 100_1872

Another view. 100_1873

Gary, the engineer, is explaining how he designed the star flower bed.100_1878

Julie had beautiful Amaryllis. 100_1875 100_1876  100_1881100_1883

Rose rocks from the Noble, Oklahoma area.  Julie brought them with her. 100_1879

On the way to dinner, they gave us a tour of part of old Victoria, established in 1824.100_1898

Many of the houses are Historical Markers. 100_1885 100_1886 100_1887 100_1888 100_1889 100_1890 100_1891 100_1892 100_1893 100_1894 100_1895 100_1896

Back at the Q after a delicious dinner at the Bayside Seafood Restaurant, I got this great picture of Julie, Don and Gary.2011 Apr 18 Pharr to Victoria2-2

We’re very thankful to God for travel safety and for a chance to visit with friends we haven’t seen in a long time.

Looks like an awesome trip, LaVon. I love those stately homes and the old, rambly trees -- and the beautiful flowers, too...especially that amaryllis!

Happy Easter, dear family member!
