Friends…

Some of our new friends left this morning.

Susan, Libby, and Lynette are waiting for Don & Phil to park Libby’s 5th wheel in storage.  We watched them for a bit and then Don headed to see if he could help them.

We met this group last summer and Libby’s husband, Mike, was with them.  We were shocked to hear that he had a fatal heart attack in January. Libby is doing good.  They are all wonderful folks.100_0879

Susan’s Don was hilarious.  When he saw my Don walking up to Libby’s truck, he jumped out and said, “Our savior’s here!”  It didn’t bother him at all to let another man back that trailer into it’s slot.

After praying with them for travel safety, we left to let them finish getting ready to go.

A little past twelve, we have visitors bringing us some Axis deer frozen meat.  They carried in that side pocket all the way from Bandera.100_0882

We met John & Janet last week at Kris’s birthday party.  Now we have two more friends to add to our list of “Harley friends.”100_0883

We took John and Janet to the River Café for a hamburger and homemade potato (white & sweet) chips.  We visited sitting around the café table for almost two hours.  We love meeting new friends!

“Semper Fi to a 12-year-old warrior.”

Every now and then, in the middle of the constant barrage of crap that’s just ‘ticking’ us all off these days, we come across a story, a feat, an event that just makes us stop in our tracks. This was one for me.

Cody Green was a 12-year kid in Indiana who was diagnosed with leukemia at 22 months old. He loved the Marines, and his parents said he drew strength and courage from the Marine Corps. as ...he bravely fought the battle into remission three times. Although he was cancer-free at the time, the chemotherapy had lowered his immune system and he developed a fungus infection that attacked his brain. Two weeks ago, as he struggled to fend off that infection in the hospital, the Marines wanted to show how much they respected his will to live, his strength, honor and courage. They presented Cody with Marine navigator wings and named him an honorary member of the United States Marine Corps. For one Marine, that wasn’t enough ... so that night, before Cody Green passed away, he took it upon himself to stand guard at Cody’s hospital door all night long, 8 hours straight.image

Nowhere on the face of this planet is there a country so blessed as we to have men and women such as this. I wish I could personally tell this Marine how proud he makes me to be an American. God ... I do so love this country.

Moments Together for Couples

Moments Together for Couples

We are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:20-21).

Happy Birthday to me, day five!

What another wonderful day in the Texas Hill Country.

We had lunch a Keese’s BBQ in Medina then down the street to the Apple Store for dessert… that’s right, apple ice cream.

After taking a picture of the Medina U.S. flag, we headed down Highway 16 toward Kerrville, but alas, a road we’ve never been on caught Don’s eye and off we went on FM 337.  Very soon, we saw a sign, “Lavender Farm Open Today.”  We drove for several miles and decided we had missed it as we enjoyed the scenery and I snapped “going down the road” pictures. And then we saw signs again and there it was.  100_0862The owner, Patience, met us outside after we parked.  Yes, the owner of the Lavender farm was named Patience.  Perfect.  And what a delightful and informative lady.  She related that her 78 year old mother actually owns the 100 plus acres that the farm is on.  Patience and her husband built this store out of recycled material and it’s full of character.

As you can tell, we made it back to the Q with goodies from the Apple Store and The Imagine Lavender Farm.  Please click on the link and check it out.

Did you know that

Lavande is French for lavender and is pronounced …. drum roll, please….  LaVon, or close enough to make me ask, “what did you say?”

No wonder I am always telling Don that, “I’m a delicate flower.”  Stop laughing.

Patience was a sweetheart and gave me a sachet packet to put under my pillow…. for my birthday.  Well, duh, of course I told her it was my birthday week!!!  I’m on a roll here! Winking smile
