We have a few very large ravens here and I caught this one on film this morning. At closer examination, you will discover a little trick photography. The raven is actually standing on the ground a few feet beyond the deer. There was just enough rise in the landscape to make it appear that the bird was perched on the doe’s back.
We stood momentarily, staring at each other, but when I raised my camera and pointed it at him, he turned tail and ran like he thought I had a bullet loaded. But the ladies weren’t scared at all.
Around 4:00 PM, we heard a rumble… looked at each other and said, “Was that thunder?” I grabbed the camera and headed outside with Don, just in time to see a flash of lightning and… Yep, that’s thunder!
We walked on around behind the office, clubhouse, and pool, to the deck over the creek. The fish and turtles were having a good time.
There are some really nice size catfish in the creek.
Something caught my eye. That’s unusual that I would see something in the water before Don did. I pointed at the movement and said, “Isn’t that a gar?” “It sure is.” He was about 12-14 inches long.
Alligator Gar get quite large. Check >>>this<<< out.
There turtles were out in force. I can’t remember how many I counted at one time.
As we were leaving the overlook deck, a gentleman and lady was arriving at the pool area. Johnny and Luella were delightful and newly married in the last few years. The story of how they met was so fun. They came to Johnson Creek RV Park because their neighbor had told them about the church service here and told them they had to come. That was very encouraging.
Tonight, Mr. Ed, a park resident, had an appreciation fellowship at his coach for all the workers here at the park. He made Cajun Boudin rolls. Yummy!
Jack (Jasper, who has done most of the building at the park) and Ms. Ann, Mr. Ed’s friend since they were children.
Mr. Ken and park owner, Lisa Cauthen.Mr. Ken is a good sport.
Tony and Peggy Caffalette. Tony leads music for us at church and will continue this fall and winter as the chaplain here at the park.
Delaney Cauthen arrived from studying, bringing lemon bars. She decided the food looked so good, she would stay long enough to eat.
Peggy and Shirley. Mr. Ed is cooking in the kitchen.
Jim (Shirley’s husband) and Tony.
Thought I had gotten a good picture of Mr. Ed, but his eyes were closed!
Melinda Stokes, park summer manager. Delaney has moved closer to the food… smart girl.
Jean finally arrived. She’s Ms. Ann’s friend, who came for a visit.
A good picture of Ms. Ann while chatting with Don.
Thanks, Mr. Ed, for a wonderful evening and your “home” is beautiful.
