Chosen

Israel, God’s chosen people.

Well, you might say… la te da, what makes Israel so special that God would choose them to be His people?

Oh. Keep asking questions and it will lead you to the answer.

God needed a family for Jesus Christ to be born into, on this earth…. all for you and me.  So He picked a rather insignificant little group of people.

Jesus Christ being born into this group of people is what makes them special.  Jesus Christ is what makes them “chosen.”

Jesus Christ is the reason we are commanded in God’s Word to honor and bless and pray for this special nation.

God isn’t telling us how wonderful Israel and Israelites are… they have often not been so wonderful throughout history, even to the crucifixion of their own, Jesus Christ.  What God is telling us is how wonderful and perfect His Son is and He alone is what makes Israel a nation set apart by God.  Israel is where the New Jerusalem will finally come to rest, because this was the home of Jesus Christ when He came to die for us and satisfy our sin debt.

Therefore, Israel is special to Christians because of Jesus Christ, our Savior.  We have been adopted (chosen) into His family.

What’s that again?

Christians are God’s chosen?

We are His chosen, not because He picked and chose special people before we were even born (even though He knows who will and will not reject Him) but because we, as individuals, have recognized the work, power, perfection and forgiving act of His Son, Jesus Christ.

God chose EVERYONE.

Jesus Christ died for EVERYONE.

God, through Jesus Christ, invites EVERY SINGLE PERSON, to a personal, real relationship with Himself.

However, sadly, not everyone chooses Jesus Christ.

The gift of the life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ was so costly that the rejection of that gift by us demands the wrath of God at the final Judgment Day.

That’s why Hell was created.  It wasn’t created just for Satan and his demons.  It was created to satisfy the wrath of God regarding those who reject so costly a gift of Grace, Love, Mercy and Forgiveness.image

God does not SEND anyone to hell.  He has chosen us all.  We send ourselves to hell… we choose hell and eternal separation from God, when we reject His precious gift of sanctification from sin.

Everything has been provided for us.

We have a choice to make.

The responsibility of our life and eternity lies with us.

Choose Jesus Christ today before it is eternally too late.
