As I told my brother today on the phone when he called to check on Mama, "We learned something today... we learned that someone who is experiencing inner ear problems does not need to ride in a car for more than 5 minutes at a time."
We drove about 20 minutes to Don's sister's today for lunch and a visit. Mama was just slightly light-headed when we arrived. We had a good time and a great meal. And then made the 20 minute drive back to her apartment. By the time she got into the house, she was requiring my assistance, plus her cane, and she even stumbled once after we got into the house.... very dizzy, but no sick stomach, praise the Lord. I got her to her bed and told her to focus on one spot on the ceiling. She went to sleep and rested until about 6:30. When she got up, she was back to how she felt before we left.
She will need more therapy before she's ready to ride again. The motion of a vehicle is just more than her balancing mechanism can keep up with right now.
