I cooked breakfast this morning and Don said he already liked how 2009 was beginning. (ha ha) I washed up the dishes and he dried them and I said "I like how 2009 is starting, too!" (ha ha, again)
We left Magic Circle RV Park in Willcox, AZ this morning about 10:00 AM. (There is an interesting history story regarding Cochise and the Magic Circle.) There was surprisingly a lot of traffic for New Year's Day. These rock formations just fascinate us. Pardon the antennae in this picture. I was talking to my cousin on the phone, but I wanted to get this picture of round rock on round rock. This is Benson, AZ down in the valley below. A small church along the route. AZ overpass art in Tucson. Downtown Tucson. This widening of US I-10 will continue until 2011. I sure wanted to stop at this horse show or playday.
"Pick-ah-choo!" Dave and Darlene, this picture is for you. We saw Picacho Peak in the distance when we were coming out of Tucson and begin to miss ya'll.
We stopped at Pilot when we exited at Eloy to fill up with gas, get a Subway sandwich for lunch and then we headed the few miles to Sunscape RV Resort and our winter destination. The site is big and really nice. Was kind of tight to get the Quantum off the street, but Don's a pro. Things went a little downhill from there, though: water hose leaked; electric cord wasn't long enough to reach the meter; sewer hose wasn't long enough to reach. And it's a holiday. GH had met us at the gate to let us in and guide us to our site, so he called... yeah! Wal-Mart (eleven miles away) is open! So we took off to get the supplies we needed to get fully set up. Awww. Love Doves, right on our patio. This is home for the next four months. Our across the street neighborhood. The local (Casa Grande) doctor must be up in his hot air balloon.
There is one more hitch. We have very limited cell-phone and air card signal strength here. So, I am praying that there's enough signal to get this posted.
Fran and Linnea came by to visit this afternoon. Fran is chairman of the church council and his wife, Linnea, is the choir director. I'm so excited! We have a choir! Choir practice is Friday morning at 10:00. That's in the morning!
And we're off and running, excited to see how God is going to use us this winter. Also, can't wait to see our Quail Run friends and other friends in the area.
