Around 3:00 this morning, the rain started and did not stop until 11:30. A cool front also drifted in and the high temp today was 65 degrees F.
Lunch with Mel and Vi at Catfish. We recommend it.
Driving through town, we spotted this Catholic church, 103 years old.The 1863 sanctuary. Back to Mel and tiny little Vi's for pictures.
Now that the rain has stopped, we decided to drive 15 miles to the LBJ National Historical Park and working ranch. At the info center was this old catalpa tree, with a .....twisted branch. On Highway One on the way to the ranch house was this Lutheran Church. The ranch was so pretty every we looked. This is the first school LBJ attended. The Lutheran church from the ranch road. There were so many dear on the ranch and the cooler weather made them very active. This one hopped over the fence from a standing start right beside the fence.Frolicking through the meadow.Fawns racing across the road.I have no idea what kind of bird this is, but it's the size of an eagle. There was also a beautiful herd of fat hereford cattle.Very showy goat, huh?Cowboy fixing fence. Finally, horses! The ranch house.Just on view from the front of the ranch house. Yes, that's a river flowing in front of the ranch house property. More frolicking deer. This guy was racing around, chasing other deer, jumping and just have a wonderful time and we thoroughly enjoy watching them all playing.Hello!Snookie, what is this?Reminds me of the playground slide when I was in elementary school.Next stop... This looks like a really neat place to visit. We will have to put that on our "list". Have safe travels.
What beautiful pictures! I enjoyed seeing the ranch through your eyes. One place we missed in TX. Those deer sure weren't afraid were they?
Thanks again!
