Short trip from Branson to Neosho

We got most of our packing up done yesterday afternoon, and what we didn’t get done, we did this morning while waiting for Dennis and Sally to get back from the gym.  (No, I haven’t been back to the gym since I whacked myself in the head during Chaplain U.  Yesterday was the first full non-fuzzy day I’ve had since.)  Anyway, Dennis and Sally took us to breakfast at the Cracker Barrel.100_3058

We sure are going to miss being so near these dear friends, but it won’t be for long.  When we get to south Texas the end of October, they will be in the next town over… not far at all.100_3057

Back at the Q, all we have to do is pull in the last slide-out and unhook the water and electricity.  And we are on the road to see Snookie and Bob in Neosho, MO.

I was so excited to be going to spend two days with Snookie, that I kept myself busy taking pictures.  I thought about doing a word-less post, but decided not to.  I do have a lot of pictures now that don’t have much rhyme or reason to them.

For a few pictures, however, I will just not say anything and let the pictures speak for themselves.100_3064

Oh, I can’t stand it, I have to say something:  I wonder how many times I will take a picture of this barn?  It’s really quite beautiful with the rock wall and red wood above.  And the vines of ivy hanging from the eave is a nice touch.100_3087

It’s very warm in Missouri even though it is the last day of summer.100_3088

We arrived at the RV park a little after one o’clock and Snookie was outside taking pictures of our truck and the Q as we pulled in.  It’s a really neat and clean little park, only sixteen sites and only $10/a night!  We were directed by the park host, to a pull-thru site across from Snookie and Bob and while Don got set up, with Bob’s help, I couldn’t wait to see the inside of Snookie and Bob’s new Carriage Cameo fifth wheel.  It’s beautiful.  I guess I could have taken some pictures.  I’m sure Snookie wouldn’t have minded at all.  I’ll take a few tomorrow.

This ‘stage stop’ building is the laundry room and showers.100_3108

After getting the Q set up and visiting some more with Snookie and Bob, Snookie and I took advantage of the late afternoon sun and walked around the park taking pictures.100_3109

Upon closer inspection of the ‘stage stop,’ you can see that the windows are false and painted on, complete with curtains.  The door, however, is real.  Not sure it open to anything but a wall, though.

Strange.  There’s no beaten down path to the outhouse.2010 Sept 22 Branson to Neosho-1

And just for me.100_3139

On Bob and Snookie’s site is a huge tomato plant.100_3144

There’s a whole family of these scavengers on the tomato plant.  Looks like it has a row of eyes along it’s side.100_3141

There’s also an okra plant with okra that has been on the stalk for too long.100_3146

Right away, we jumped into Bob’s truck and headed to town to eat dinner at a Mexican restaurant, the El Charro.  Understanding that Snookie is from ‘up north,’ I ask her if she likes hot salsa and she said, “Hmmm, no, I prefer cold salsa.”  I really can not do justice to the conversation and laughter that followed that statement, but I think I finally convinced her that it’s Hot (pepper) Sauce (Salsa) and it can be served cold, room temperature, warm or hot.  And the peppers can be mild, medium or hot.  The English language is so confusing some times!100_3149

We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and fellowship.

I just love Mexican restaurants.  If they need a picture on the wall, they just paint it there!100_3151

By the time we finished dinner and headed back to the park, the shadows were getting very long.100_3153

We all made plans for a fun day tomorrow, so see you tomorrow evening…. if I’m not too tired.
