Starting Over - Release It

Truth for today from the Word of God:
Ephesians 4:26-27New Living Translation (NLT)26 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil.

Ephesians 4:31-32New Living Translation (NLT)31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

How to Insure Next Time won't be like Last Time

Today's Big Idea -
"Past hurt affects future health."

How far into your future do you intend to carry the hurt from your past?

How long do you plan to allow the people who hurt you to influence you?

When we don't release past hurt, we drag emotional baggage into every Next Time.

I decided

My past will remind me but not define me.

Release the past, so the past will release me.

You forgive

Forgiveness enables us to carry the lessons of the past without dragging the baggage of the past.

Pardon

The only way to break the chain from the hurt of your past to your future is to Pardon whoever hurt you.

As a forgiven follower of Christ, you can Pardon someone who doesn't deserve it.....

Because YOU were pardoned when you didn't deserve it.

Next Steps

1)  Make a list of the people who hurt you and what they took away from you.

2)  Face the reality that they couldn't pay you back even if they wanted to.

3)  Once you have owned your part, decide to pardon them for their part.

We are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:20-21).
