Meditation

Kith and Kin

The next time someone tells you that Islamists and Christians and Jews are equivalent in God's eyes because they are descendants of Abraham, remember this:

Here is the actual reality…

Romans 6 But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel; 7 nor are they all children because they are Abraham’s[d]descendants, but: “[e]through Isaac your [f]descendants will be named.8 That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as[g]descendants. 9 For this is the word of promise: “At this time I will come, and Sarah shall have a son.” 10 And not only this, but there was Rebekah also, when she had conceived twins by one man, our father Isaac; 11 for though the twins were not yet born and had not done anything good or bad, so that God’s purpose according to His choice would [h]stand, not[i]because of works but [j]because of Him who calls, 12 it was said to her, “The older will serve the younger.” 13 Just as it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”

Amen, Frank Maguire!  The beautiful part is the Grace that does include every Islamist and Jew, if they would believe in Jesus Christ.  We are not chosen because He decided from the beginning who He wanted and who He did not want. (God hated Esau because Esau did not follow Him, and God knew that in His Sovereignty.) We are Chosen, because we have believed. The whole world could be The Chosen because Christ died for all, but sadly, the whole world will not believe.
The  only place we are all equivalent is at the Cross.  What we do at the Cross is what separates us from each other.  Believe? Reject?  Everything changes at the Cross.  If an Islamist rejects Islam and accepts Jesus Christ, we are equivalent. But while he is still in his dark cult, he is not equivalent to me in Christ and his Allah is not the same as my God. (Just because a god is worshipped does not make it the True God. If that were the case, the worshipped Satan would be the same as God, my Father. Not possible.)

We must, however, never fall into pride in our knowledge of belonging to Christ. True Christianity follows Christ in the obedience of loving all.  That is our calling.

Thanks, Frank, for finding this scripture and sharing!!

To God be the glory!!

[Further meditation:

“Esau, I hated.” -- If this statement does not give you serious pause, something is wrong. I’m going to meditate seriously on this for a few minutes.

How much does God love His Son, Jesus Christ?

Reject Jesus Christ and at The Great White Throne Judgment, you will find out.

“Esau, I hated” is the judgment that those who reject Jesus Christ will hear. Just insert your name in the place of “Esau” for a jolt of reality.

That would be the beginning of hell for me… to hear God vehemently declare not only that I will be forever separated from Him, but that He hates me. Just thinking this and writing it, makes my heart stop, takes my breath away.

Instead, I have joy and peace, because I will never hear those words: “Because you rejected the perfect, priceless, precious gift of grace provided to you by My Only Begotten Son, get out of my sight, LaVon, I hate you. I loved you so much that I created you, died for you and you rejected My Love. I now hate you as I hate the one you belong to.”

Gasp!

Can you just imagine hearing those words and seeing the look in The Father’s eyes?

Oh, how grateful and thankful and blessed I am to know that I will never have to experience that judgment. All because I have accepted Jesus Christ and have chosen Him to be the Lord and Master of my life. I have been to The Cross and I am changed. I am a new creation in Christ. The One True God is my God and when He looks at me, He doesn’t see my sin, but He sees Jesus Christ whose blood paid for my sin and covers me as a snow white robe…. and all I did was believe.

I pray you never hear the words from God’s lips, “I hate you.” Please join me in faith, believing in the precious gift of Jesus Christ. Acknowledge that you are lost in sin and darkness without Jesus, repent, ask for His forgiveness and give Him your life…. all of it.  He will not disappoint you. Bam!! You are His and He is yours. Forever. It’s so simple. Don’t be an Esau.  Kick pride to the curb and humble yourself before Him, as a little child.

Romans 8 is waiting for you to read. Rejoice in it!!

I love you, too.]

Would love to hear your thoughts on anything I’ve written. Would love to hear from your heart.

The rest of the story…

Don has completed Sunday’s Coming for this week, but he omitted some of the story…

As Don sat in the barber shop waiting for the chair to be empty, along with several other gentlemen, listening to the ranting and profanity of the barber, he finally couldn’t stand the tirade any longer and got up and walked out, slamming the door behind him. The barber followed Don outside, but Don just held up his hand in true “you have had your chance” fashion, got in the truck and drove down the street to a peaceful shop where business was being done professionally, as it should be.

Don wasn’t real pleased with the slamming of the door, but felt the barber needed to understand that there is a time and a place for all things. We’re pretty sure, though, that the barber will assume that Don disagreed with what he was saying, not how and where he was saying it.

Oh, well.  Nevertheless, a customer was lost and if the barber has any sense at all, he got that message.

Only God knows if this is the end of the story or not.

Brio and Frost Gelato

I realize that I have not blogged in…well... a few days.

So today, was a special day for Don and I. How so? Well, the temps were up a few degrees and Don was feeling better than he has in about 10 days, so we got out for lunch.

OK, truth?  We’re celebrating the fact that I’ve lost 39.2 pounds!! Thumbs upOpen-mouthed smileSecret telling smile

How do we celebrate?  With a meal, of course!

Our choice for lunch was over in the San Tan Village in Gilbert… Brio. Italian. What a lovely restaurant! Lots of dining space. Not crowded or overly noisy… a very comfortable, almost cozy den of voices that didn’t drowned out our conversation.

Ambiance was also terrific. Here’s a shot of one of the ceiling features:P1000605

We were seated by a very friendly, but professional hostess and promptly attended by our waiter for our drink order. Two waters with lemon, please.P1000607

There were several choices for me, which really thrilled me.  My choice: Shrimp Mediterranean. I knew I could have asked them to omit the pilaf, but decided that I could eat around it and I did. (It’s not on my eating program presently.)P1000609

The bar area.P1000610

To add to the cozy ambiance, there was an eating bar along the whole length of the grill area of the kitchen.P1000611P1000612

The complimentary appetizer was seasoned toasted flatbread wedges and a sourdough loaf with real butter on the side. That little tip missing on the flatbread ended up in my mouth and I promptly wished I hadn’t tasted it because it was all I could do to resist eating the whole thing, but I did. Must have been the result of… “Oh, Jesus, help me!!”P1000613

Pre-meal salads were wonderful with the best dressing.  Better than Olive Garden, even.P1000614

And my entrĂ©e…P1000615As you can see in the top right corner, Don’s choice was a house pizza which he thoroughly enjoyed.

I had to get a few more pictures before we left.P1000616

Kaston, our wonderful waiter, cooperated with a smile when I asked if I could take his picture.P1000617

As you can tell, I have nothing but good things to say about our dining experience at Brio today.

Excellent.

From the restaurant we walked around a few blocks and back to Frost Gelato. Yep, Don had his eye on this place all along. Smile

Don chose the Peanut Butter Crunch and she is reaching for the scoop for my Lemoncello Sorbet.Frost Gelato!!

This is the owner’s daughter who had the perfect personality for serving customers. She was totally knowledgeable about the products and history of the franchise.Owner's daughter. Great personality.

She put a little dollop of raspberry sorbet on top! This piccolo (small) portion – 90 calories.P1000620

The owner chats with a customer.  I also spoke with her and was surprised, considering her gusto for all things Italian, that she had no Italian in her heritage.Owner, on the left, chatting with customer.

Everything in the store has been imported from Italy.Everything in the store is imported from Italy. All ingredients are imported from Italy. All gelato is made fresh each day and is never older than 24 hours.

The Frost Gelato was voted The Best Frozen Dessert in the Phoenix area in 2012!Voted "The Best Frozen Desert in Phoenix for 2012

What a delightfully blessed day we had.

Testimony of God’s Faithfulness

by Mandy Grounds

Today marks 36 years since I said goodbye to both my beautiful, funny brothers. I could spend all day typing hilarious stories about their short lived lives! Eric Wendell Richards was 7 and Kyle Wayne Richards was 5 when they drown in the iced over tank beside my house. I was 12 and that day is forever etched in my mind and I can replay every detail in slow motion even today. But when the horrific details try to invade my mind, I have learned to replace them with the wonderful memories I cherish of our time together. I was not always able to do this in the beginning and I developed Post Traumatic Stress Disorder at a very young age. BUT my Father in Heaven rescued me and brought me to a place of healing and ways of coping. Yes, I still have moments of tears, but no more days of tears and horrible nightmares. This tragedy was used by The Lord to make me who I am today and I am thankful for all my blessings of joy! I know all of you have experienced times of grief, pain, frustration, anger and "the whys". No one is left unscathed in this world from times of trouble, but we are never left alone when we believe that Christ died for our sins and lives today. Proof of that: When I was 12  I felt the loneliest I have ever felt so I began writing letters addressed to Joshua (just a name I picked that first day of writing) and I wrote all my feelings and frustrations to him daily. I tucked those letters away all those years ago and put them in storage. Two years ago, my Mom gave me a bible study book and the first lesson talked about the name Yeshua for Jesus which is translated Joshua!!!! I melted to my knees in realization that all those years ago God was with me!!! I raced to the storage building, found the letters and cried! My Father in Heaven took care of me then even when I did not recognize it!! He is taking care of you now in the midst of whatever you are going through big or small and just when you need it most He will reveal Himself in a mighty way!! I pray you will just trust, trust Him in all your circumstances! As I remember my brothers today, I will be thankful for my amazing memories and my awesome God who loves me so!

[Mandy’s family lived across the highway from Mama Trudy. Not many years after I left the home, I will never forget this day. Mama called me, sobbing the details and we wept together in disbelief.

God has used Mandy in a mighty way and now she hosts a prayer group on FaceBook.]

Cinnamon and Honey

Whoever thought?honey & cinnamon

Honey is the only food on the planet that will not spoil or rot. What it will do is what some call 'turning to sugar'. In reality, honey is always honey. However, when left in a cool dark place for a long time it will "crystallize". When this happens loosen the lid, boil some water and sit the honey container in the hot water, but turn off the heat and let it liquefy naturally. It is then as good as it ever was. Never boil honey or put it in a microwave. This will kill the enzymes in the honey.

Cinnamon and Honey
Bet the drug companies won't like this one getting around.

Facts on Honey and Cinnamon: It is found that a mixture of honey and Cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also accept honey as a 'Ram Ban' (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases. Honey can be used without side effects for any kind of diseases.
Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, when it is taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm even diabetic patients. Researched by western scientists:

HEART DISEASES: Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply it on bread instead of jelly and jam and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient from heart attack. Also, those who have already had an attack, when they do this process daily, they are kept miles away from the next attack. Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heart beat. In America and Canada, various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as one ages the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalize the arteries and the veins.

ARTHRITIS: Arthritis patients may take daily (morning and night) one cup of hot water with two tablespoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. When taken regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured. In a recent research conducted at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon Cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week (out of the 200 people so treated) practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain -- and within a month, most all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis now started walking without pain.

BLADDER INFECTIONS: Take two tablespoons of cinnamon powder and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm water and drink it. It destroys the germs in the bladder.

CHOLESTEROL: Two tablespoons of honey and three teaspoons of Cinnamon Powder mixed in 16 ounces of tea water given to a cholesterol patient was found to reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood by 10 percent within two hours. As mentioned for arthritic patients, when taken three times a day, any chronic cholesterol is cured. According to information received in the said Journal, pure honey taken with food daily relieves complaints of cholesterol.

COLDS: Those suffering from common or severe colds should take one tablespoon lukewarm honey with 1/4 spoon cinnamon powder daily for three days. This process will cure most chronic cough, cold, and, clear the sinuses.

UPSET STOMACH: Honey taken with cinnamon powder cures stomach ache and also clears stomach ulcers from its root.

GAS: According to the studies done in India and Japan, it is revealed that when Honey is taken with cinnamon powder the stomach is relieved of gas.

IMMUNE SYSTEM: Daily use of honey and cinnamon powder strengthens the immune system and protects the body from bacterial and viral attacks. Scientists have found that honey has various vitamins and iron in large amounts. Constant use of Honey strengthens the white blood corpuscles (where DNA is contained) to fight bacterial and viral diseases.

INDIGESTION: Cinnamon powder sprinkled on two tablespoons of honey taken before food is eaten relieves acidity and digests the heaviest of meals

INFLUENZA: A scientist in Spain has proved that honey contains a natural 'Ingredient' which kills the influenza germs and saves the patient from flu.

LONGEVITY: Tea made with honey and cinnamon powder, when taken regularly, arrests the ravages of old age. Use four teaspoons of honey, one teaspoon of cinnamon powder, and three cups of boiling water to make a tea. Drink 1/4 cup, three to four times a day. It keeps the skin fresh and soft and arrests old age. Life spans increase and even a 100 year old will start performing the chores of a 20-year-old.

RASPY OR SORE THROAT: When throat has a tickle or is raspy, take one tablespoon of honey and sip until gone. Repeat every three hours until throat is without symptoms.

PIMPLES: Three tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder paste. Apply this paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash it off the next morning with warm water. When done daily for two weeks, it removes all pimples from the root.

SKIN INFECTIONS:Applying honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts on the affected parts cures eczema, ringworm and all types of skin Infections.

WEIGHT LOSS:Daily in the morning one half hour before breakfast and on an empty stomach, and at night before sleeping, drink honey and cinnamon powder boiled in one cup of water. When taken regularly, it reduces the weight of even the most obese person. Also, drinking this mixture regularly does not allow the fat to accumulate in the body even though the person may eat a high calorie diet.

CANCER: Recent research in Japan and Australia has revealed that advanced cancer of the stomach and bones have been cured successfully. Patients suffering from these kinds of cancer should daily take one tablespoon of honey with one teaspoon of cinnamon powder three times a day for one month.

FATIGUE: Recent studies have shown that the sugar content of honey is more helpful rather than being detrimental to the strength of the body. Senior citizens who take honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts are more alert and flexible. Dr. Milton, who has done research, says that a half tablespoon of honey taken in a glass of water and sprinkled with cinnamon powder, even when the vitality of the body starts to decrease, when taken daily after brushing and in the afternoon at about 3:00 P.M., the vitality of the body increases within a week.

BAD BREATH: People of South America, gargle with one teaspoon of honey and cinnamon powder mixed in hot water first thing in the morning so their breath stays fresh throughout the day.

HEARING LOSS: Daily morning and night honey and cinnamon powder, taken in equal parts restores hearing.

Remember when we were kids? We had toast with real butter and cinnamon sprinkled on it!

Zucchini Boats

Zucchini Bowl

Don made an amazing dish tonight and he called them Zucchini Boats.

  • One large zucchini, halved & cored
  • Chopped bell pepper, green, red & yellow (we get them really cheap at the local market)
  • Chopped onion
  • Chopped zucchini middle
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 1/2 Italian sausage links
  • 1/4 cup Spaghetti sauce
  • Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Mozzarella cheese, grated

Season empty “boat” and bake at 350 degrees (why doesn’t my keyboard have that little degree symbol?) for about 10-12 minutes.

Brown crumbled Italian sausage in skillet in a little olive oil until done. Drain excess oil.

Add chopped veggies to sausage and sauté.

Add 1/4 cup of spaghetti sauce to mixture.

Fill each “boat” with veggie/sausage mixture, top with grated cheeses and bake until cheese is melted and golden brown.

Serve this wonderful meal in a boat, hot.

Serves two.

Next time, Don says he will experiment with Turkey Italian sausage.  This was so good, I hesitate to let him change it, but turkey sausage would be less fat, even though most of the fat was drained off.

Row, row, row your boat!
