Don took a walk over to the creek this morning for a little quiet time… not that I’m all that noisy, but it’s so peaceful over there. It’s a wonderful place for prayer and listening to God.
We took chicken pasta salad to Mama Trudy’s for lunch and she had fresh squash fried and ready when we got there, so we enjoyed our meal together.
After lunch, Don found a place in Trenton to get our tire fixed. He found it flat this morning and hosting a screw. The nice folks at the camp had an air compressor and aired it up until Don could get it fixed.
This afternoon, we took a drive up to Lookout Mountain. Here’s a few signs on the way.
We stopped here at the Cloudland Canyon State Park visitor center.
Everywhere, there are beautiful…..
We found the park/picnic area with areas for taking pictures. These folks are across the canyon from us, hiking.
Looks like a cave to me… across the canyon.
A waterfall across the canyon. (I’m pretty proud of my little Kodak right now.)
Our side of the canyon, to the right.
Bounty for the birds and animals.
To the left on our side of the canyon.
Where I was standing to take pictures across the canyon.
Back in the truck, we back tracked a little to Sunset Drive to see if we could see our park from that ridge. All was private property along Sunset Drive and we didn’t stop to ask anyone if we could take pictures from their back deck. I know, you’re surprised. There were pretty sights on this ridge, too.
Just past the small lake were horses. Don said this one has the measles.
Across the street from the horses was this house for sale, so we ventured into the driveway. Asking price is $276,000. I can get the phone number for you if you’re interested.
A log cabin almost completely hidden in the woods.
This hammock gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, “Location, location, location.” It’s right on the edge of the ridge and the view is beautiful down below, which we can’t see from the truck.
It’s hard to believe all this pasture land is on top of Lookout Mountain. I loved the flags along this fence.
This is what we’ve been looking for!! From this point we could see for miles. But we’re too far north to be able to see our park and the Q. The green patch on the left is the Lookout Mountain Hang Gliding landing area.
Where we sat to enjoy the view. That’s Don sitting on a rock under the trees.
Here’s a close up of my handsome hubby. He was wishing he could ride in the tow plane.
The view toward Trenton where Mama lives.
A hay field below. Are those RV’s on the left?
Yep, sure are. What nice, roomy sites.
This plane is preparing to tow a hang glider up.
That’s a little too close to the electric wires for me.
If you look really close, you can see the tow cable.
The glider is now free from the tow plane after being pulled to a nice height. Right above us, I got a good picture.
Time out for butterfly. Poor guy looks like a kids has been playing with him… wings look a little damaged.
The view back north, toward west of Chattanooga.
The glider is beginning his descent.
The shadow shows that he’s near landing.
A golf cart is used to tow the glider back to the hangar area.
Far background is Trenton. We made it to the north tip of Lookout Mountain where the Incline Railway station is located. I climbed the stairs to the observation deck.
What a fun day enjoying God’s gift of creation. Hope you enjoyed a few of the 130 pictures I took today. Here’s the last one… a simple log cabin on our way back to the Q.

Oh LaVon, I feel like I have been to Lookout Mountain. Your pictures were beautiful. Enjoy our stay in Georgia.
Loved the pics. Will have to go that way one of these days. Beautiful scenery. Glad you are having a good time. Love and miss you both.
I also think your pictures are beautiful... We have been to Look Out Mountain and I refused to ride the tram on the incline, all I could imagine is where you would end up if the thing broke loose.. Down town somewhere...
