Bears?

Today is laundry day, so we load our baskets in the truck and drive up to the laundry building.

This is the view from the door of the laundry building.100_2069

On the wall just inside the door.  What?  You will invite bears and skunks?  Bears? What? You will invite bears and skunks. ???

We were impressed with the laundry room here.. eight washers and dryers. What the inside of this RV park laundry building. It's big with 8 washers and 8 dryers.

There are three recliners in the laundry room!  Don’s a fan. There are 3 recliners in this laundry! Don likes it. :-)

For a few minutes, I sat in the recliner on the left, but kept imagining a bear coming through the door behind me.I sat in the recliner on the left for a little bit, but I kept imagining a bear walking through that open door. Don insisted that he would protect me.

So, I moved to the uncomfortable black chair facing the door.So I moved to the black, uncomfortable chair facing the door.

Meanwhile, at the dumpsters!  Seriously??And meanwhile, at the dumpsters. Seriously?

News tonight on KK11 news, a picture of a bear on the street in a residential area here!  We’re in the woods!

Amazing beauty on four legs

I have recently learned of the Gypsy Vanner breed of horses and have been in contact with the Stillwater Farm in North Carolina.  Today, I received this in my inbox!

Is this an amazing picture or what?!!!!

Friends walking the talk..

Richard and Debbie are new friends we met at Johnson Creek RV Park, summer 2011.  They have such a heart for people and serving their Lord and Savior.

Today, I received the following email from Debbie and I am asking you to pray for them as they work, to the glory of God.

Hello everyone, well Richard and I are on our way to work Hurricane Isaac around Fl, MS, AL, etc.  Not sure where they will put us.  We just arrived at the Florida Welcome center.  We have a small request as to please refrain from sending "forward email's" as we will be very busy and no time to read them.  We will love to hear from you otherwise but again may not be able to answer right away as we have been told not a lot of social time especially when we first get going after the storm.  We have trained for this event for the past year and very excited to be able to put it to use helping those who have lost so much get their homes etc., back in order as quickly as possible.  Don't know how long we will be on this particular storm but plan on returning home (Texas) when were done. Have a great day! Debbie

Standing up for right..

This is not a political issue.

This is right versus wrong.

God versus Satan.

Basic good versus dark and rebellious evil.

So, let me get this straight…  You’re gonna fight for my “right to choose” someday… BUT BEFORE I WAS BORN… you wouldn’t have even fought for my life?       Sure… makes TOTAL sense.

Life is God’s business.  Period.

God and God alone has the right to give life and the right to take life… because God is the Creator of life.

How horrible that any girl or woman is raped.  I speak from experience, yet I was too young to be impregnated.  Had, I been older and became pregnant, being raped in no way, shape, form or fashion would have given me the right to murder the baby growing inside me.

The method of conception is never a shock to God.  He’s not happy about the violation of an innocent woman, but He’s not shocked and He’s not too small to take care of that mother.  He is not too small to bless her in ways that she could never imagine during the nine months that child is growing inside her and beyond.

There are thousands of people who would love to adopt that child should the mother be emotionally not  able to care for it… if restoration and healing takes longer than nine months or if the mother is a child herself.  All these things are legitimate realities, but even though a woman is violated and inconvenienced, aborting a baby is murder. Any action done intentionally and results in death is defined as murder.

We all make mistakes and we all find ourselves in situations where we exercise less than wise choices.  It’s called being human.  And God’s grace covers being human.  There is nothing we can do in innocence or ignorance that God will not forgive and heal.  But it is our responsibility to know what is sin and exercise our faith to trust God to guide us into the right decisions and actions.

13 Thou shalt not kill. - Exodus 20:13 (KJV)

Does it say, “Thou shalt not commit murder (NLT)unless thou art inconvenienced or thou didst not plan your conception and do not desire the life growing in your womb.” ??

“Thou shalt not take another life, unless you develop enough verbiage to justify yourself and pass enough laws to pacify your conscience and get enough people to agree with you?”

Oh, that’s okay, I will change my mind and make an exception for you, said God never.  There is forgiveness but forgiveness does not do away with consequences.

No, the just and good God of love, did not say that.  It’s really very simple.  Be doers of the Word and not hearers only.  (James 1:22)

Any questions?

Would you care to discuss the word “viable?”

I will also discuss the subject of the number of foster care children needing permanent families, should you be one using that as an argument for abortion.

Let’s figure this out, friends, and all come down on the side of Truth and Righteousness.

Ogallala to Colorado Springs…

We were on the road by 8:30 AM with a cloudless day that began with hardly any wind at all.IMG_0658

The scenery ranged from flat farmland to rolling, barren hills.

SE Colorado

Our first sighting of the results of a recent fire.Evidence of recent fires.

There are not as many barns in NE Colorado as there were in Nebraska and the farms just are not as picturesque.  But still they have their own personality.IMG_0673

We saw miles and miles of this as we gradually climbed to a higher elevation,.IMG_0689

Now… this is nice.IMG_0711

This was suddenly visible.  I almost didn’t get the picture.IMG_0719

Pikes Peak is visible from miles away. We're getting closer

When we arrived at our destination, I couldn’t believe that the park managers/owners said, “OK, you can park in this area or this area,” circling them on a map, “then just call us an let us know which site you pick.” Oh, and by the way, some sites are not full hook ups and some share the electric post, so be sure to check before setting up.”  Seriously???  So off we go and I got out and walked and walked and got really hot in the 95 degree temperature.  We finally found a site that was long enough and was a full hook-up.  The sites are dirt and not level at all, but it is quiet here and the mountains are a nice view just “over yonder” to the west.

After we got set up, I had a headache and was sweating like a, well, I was perspiring profusely.  I took a nap and when I awoke, it was almost sundown.  The temp had dropped and we sat outside until I heard a mosquito buzzing around my ear.Parked at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park, Colorado Springs, CO

6,400 feet elevation.  It may take me a few days to get acclimated.  Drinking lots of water.

Sunday’s here!

I have been very remiss in sharing with readers about the churches we have attended while traveling this summer.  I will try to do a better job.

But first, I will share a few pictures with you that I took this morning.

As I looked out the galley window of the Q this morning, I saw a gentleman sitting at a picnic table several feet from our site.  I immediately thought of the caption: “calling home” and went for my camera.  By the time I got my camera focused through the blinds, and was just about ready to click… gentleman laid down on the bench and made himself comfortable.gentleman talking on the phone at Country View Ranch RV Park, Ogallala (taken from the galley window of the Q)

Don is ready for church and waiting for me, while he visits with Todd, the owner of the Country View Ranch RV Park and Campground.  Todd is so nice and personable.  He was really upset that Don didn’t call him when we got stuck at the lake Friday.  He said he would have come pulled us out with his jeep!  So nice. Todd left the corporate rat race in Denver and purchased this park in 2005 and has thoroughly enjoyed his new, less stressful “career.”In his element: Don, waiting for me to go to church and chatting with park owner, Todd.

On our short drive to church, we crossed the South Platte River.  This pretty much tells the drought story here.South Platte River, Ogallala, NE. A testimony of the drought they've endured.

Church was a blessing this morning.  We are so encouraged and blessed to visit churches across this country and witness the love of Christ Jesus we all have in God’s Family.  We were very impressed with the ministries of this church.  Pastor Eric Wait preached a super message from 1 Cor. 12:1-26 entitled “The New Testament Method of Growth.”  His focus was on the development of their Small Group ministry, which Don and I are big fans of.

New Hope Worship Center.  People were warm and friendly.  Music lead all to worship the Lord.  Sermon was “spot on” and Biblical.  Very encouraging and challenging.New Hope Worship Center

Thank you for this body of Believers, Lord. Bless them with favor in this community and around the world as they actively participate in missions.  In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Boot Hill (not Tombstone)

Today, I am really feeling the effects of almost 4,000 feet elevation.  But I persevere and we head off to Boot Hill, just a few miles from the park.

100_1937

Well, this is the reason Don did not get to go UP on Boot Hill.  And by the time I got to the sign, I was breathing heavily.100_1969

What?? I still had more steps to go!! My head is feeling very light. The climb to Boot Hill, Ogallala

It was worth the climb and I took lots of pictures for Don to see, including this very impressive and large sculpture, The Trail Boss.THE TRAIL BOSS by Robert Summers. Represents the Texas Trail. There is an identical sculpture in Dallas, Texas100_1954100_1956100_1955100_1944100_1946

By this time, my stomach is all queasy and I am feeling really awful.100_1972

It’s time to eat lunch and head back to the Q to take something to get rid of this headache.

This park is so quiet and peaceful.  We love it here.100_1980

From the park entrance, I zoomed this picture of a burnt hill a few miles away. The black hill is evidence of a recent fire here.

Inside the park…

Me: walking away from Don, "ooooo, look at this old wagon!"

Don: "(mumble, mumble, mumble)

Me:  "what, hon?" as I walk back to him after taking the pic.

Don: "it's a manure spreader," in a very quiet voice.

Me:  "guess you didn't want to holler that, huh?"  Ha HaMe: walking away from Don, "ooooo, look at this old wagon!" Ogallala, Nebraska: UFO Water Tower

It's amazing what can be done with a standard metal water tower and a little imagination. At night it's reportedly illuminated with UFO landing lights.  Guess I need to come out after dark and take a picture.  Of course I do!100_1981Ogallala has a water tower painted like a giant spaceship! $45 dollars later…

Since I post my pictures on FaceBook, I’m getting a little lazy at posting them in the blog.  I beg your forgiveness.

Today was a fun day for Don and I.  We are so blessed and God watches over us and provides.

Curious, yet?

A wise woman

A short portion of our trip to the Strategic Air and Space Museum, Ashland, Nebraska, revealed a picture exhibit of Miss Ann Barnes, who said,

“Government truly under God, cannot turn tyrannical for honorable members will praise God instead of play God.” ~ Ann Barnes
