Sunday is here.

Oh, alas, I walked out of the Q this morning with my camera hanging from my neck.  We walked over to the Chapel in the Hills and Don was going to take my picture on the steps of the chapel, but, memory was full and I had left the SD disk in the laptop.  I looked at the clock hanging in the chapel and determined that I shouldn’t leave to go get the disk.  Oh, how I wish I had.  A few minutes before 9:30, as Don stood looking out the chapel door, campers between to walk up the hill to the chapel from various directions.  I pray God gives me a chance to take a picture like that again while we are here.  So, in the meantime, imagine Little House on the Prairie.

We were again thrilled.  There’s really not very many rigs in the park this weekend, but we still had 15 who came to worship with us!  Singing was without instruments, but it was great.

Don’s sermon The sermon God gave Don for this morning was from Philippians 2:1-11. Click on the scripture link, read and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you.

Don told this story from baseball history as an illustration of encouragement, compassion and gratitude:

One of the all-time greats in baseball was Babe Ruth. His bat had the power of a cannon, and his record of 714 home runs remained unbroken until Hank Aaron came along. “The Babe” was the idol of sports fans, but in time age took its toll, and his popularity began to wane. Finally the Yankees traded him to the Braves. In one of his last games in Cincinnati, Babe Ruth began to falter. He struck out and made several misplays that allowed the Reds to score five runs in one inning. As “the Babe” walked toward the dugout, chin down and dejected, there rose from the stands an enormous storm of boos and catcalls. Then a wonderful thing happened. A little boy jumped over the railing, and with tears streaming down his cheeks he ran out to the great athlete. Unashamedly, he flung his arms around “the Babe’s” legs and held on tightly. Babe Ruth scooped him up, hugged him, took his hand and the two of them walked off the field together.  - (D.J.D. Our Daily Bread)

Speaks volumes, doesn’t it?

After church, we drove in to Ingram to go to church again.  We both enjoy Pastor Chris Dahse.  He is preaching through the Book of John.  Today:  John 9:26-34, an eye-opening revelation into the self-righteous religious leaders when Jesus was alive on earth and performing miracles.100_4079 They were having a pot luck lunch and we were invited to join them, which we did.  We love meeting local people and finding out how we might be of service here.

From there, we just drove around the area.100_4082 100_4081100_4084

While driving through a very nice residential neighborhood, we turned a corner a there was this herd of Whitetail deer lounging in a front yard! 100_4086

As we drove by, they just watched us and never seemed to be threatened by our presence at all.   100_4087

“Think only about the things in heaven.”  Colossians 3:2

Engaged people are obsessed with preparation. The right dress. The right weight. The right hair and the right tux. They want everything to be right. Why?  So their fiancée will marry them? No. Just the opposite. They want to look their best because their fiancée is marrying them.

The same is true for us. We want to look our best for Christ. We want our hearts to be pure and our thoughts to be clean . . .  We want to be prepared. – Max Lucado
