Going down the road

I just love going-down-the-road pictures.

After Stephanie’s delicious chicken and dumpling dinner last night, Don woke up this morning feeling much better and ready to go.

This was my first picture as we climbed in elevation in the southern Oklahoma hill country.100_3600

We can see the Kiamichi Wilderness from this hilltop vantage point.100_3604

Have you met me?  I can’t help it… it like it.100_3606

Looks odd.100_3607

Even after topping the hill, the tower still looks like it’s in the middle of the highway.100_3608

This field sure produced a lot of hay.100_3609

That’s smoke.100_3612

More smoke.  Don said they were clearing a pipeline area.100_3613

About here in our journey today, we had every intention of stopping in Antlers, OK to visit friends and spend a night or two.  However, being on the Indian Nation Turnpike, a toll road, the exit to Antlers was three lanes away from the immediate exit of the PikePass lane, which made it impossible for us to exit at Highway 3 into Antlers.  The next two pictures are from the OK Highways.com website.intpkexit16

The website states:

The Antlers toll plaza, as seen from Indian Nation Turnpike South. Exit 16 departs immediately after the toll plaza.intpktp3Craziest thing we ever saw.  Well, almost the craziest.

(The nearest exit was fifteen miles down the road, so we just kept going until we found a nice little RV park and we pulled in.)

A beautiful pasture with grazing cattle.  Lends itself to a peaceful feeling, doesn’t it?100_3616

Livestock? In Texas?  Really?100_3617

In the middle of Paris, Texas.  I bet it’s pretty at nice with the fountain going and the lights on.100_3618

The United Methodist Church, Paris, Texas. Construction began in 1921 and was completed in 1924 at a cost of $300,000.00.100_3620

We’re close to long-time friends, so made contact and plans to see them tomorrow afternoon. (Note to self:  Do not forget to take pictures!!)

Daily Promises
Blue Letter Bible
October 6, 2010

Understand, therefore, that the LORD your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and constantly loves those who love him and obey his commands. (Deuteronomy 7:9)

God is faithful! He has been and always will be faithful! How wonderful that we can count upon His promises!
Prayer: Oh Lord, thank you for being faithful, even to those who are faithless! Keep me walking close to You and in Your statutes.
