"In Remembrance of Me"

We got to the rec center (for church) a few minutes early, so I took pictures of the RV's on this side of the park.  This is the south side of the park where we're parked.  Patriotic campers.  I love it! I was standing in the street in front of the rec center taking these pictures.  The area on the right where there are no windows is where the fluorescent green walls are... where we have church.

First thing today, we sang Happy Birthday to Mary. Makes you wonder if the bombing of Pearl Harbor sent her mama into labor... but then we learned she was born a few years after 1941.  We also remembered those who gave their lives on Pearl Harbor sixty-seven years ago.

Today was Communion Sunday at the Walter Johnson Park Fellowship as we partook of the Lord's Supper together. 

God gave Don a tremendous message regarding the significance of the Lord's Supper (Luke 22:14-20, why we observe the Lord's Supper and how we are instructed to remember what Jesus has done for us.

We were reminded that the first Lord's Supper took place during the Festival of Unleavened Bread and the Passover as Jesus revealed again that He was the fulfillment of the Old Covenant and His broken body (symbolized by the bread) and His blood poured out (symbolized by the wine) was the beginning of His New Covenant with all believers.

Of particular interest is the fact that Jesus took a loaf of bread and HE broke it and shared it, symbolizing that HE gave His body freely to be broken for our sins.

The Lord's Supper is a reminder that He provided us with everlasting life. (Hebrews 9:22-28)

Communion is not an empty ritual, but rather a beautiful way to remember that because of righteousness Jesus Christ, the sacrificial Lamb of God, we have:

forgiveness of sin (Eph. 1:7)

peace with God (Rom. 5:1)

redemption & reconciliation to God (II Cor. 5:19

and right standing before God (II Cor. 5:21).

How should we approach the "table?"

In unity (Eph. 3:4)

Seeking forgiveness (I Cor. 11)

With everlasting hope for the future that Jesus has provided us.

Two gentlemen, Jerry Potter and John Long, helped pass out the elements.  Here's a picture of the pre-filled sets we found: These were great and it was a blessed time together for everyone attending.

After church, we love to visit. Gene Andrews, Navy Corpsman Ret., has so many wonderful stories.  We could sit and listen to him for hours.  He's funny, too.  He's telling Don about Turkish soldiers disembarking in Turkey and the rituals they do before they will even get off the boat. Very interesting. John Long, Margie Slaughter, Linda Rhoten and Judy Long. Tom's visited enough, he's ready to go eat lunch! LOL.One of the ladies had a great idea: take everyone's picture by the Christmas tree in the foyer of the rec center. (She knew I was just itching to take pictures.)  Everyone was so cooperative.... RICK!

This cute lady is the one who suggested we take pictures of everyone by the tree and I'm embarrassed to say that I'm not sure if I have her name right. Chuck (from the Elk City State Park group of workampers.) Bob & Mary "Birthday Girl" Lukkes Chaplain Don & LaVon Baker (but you knew that :-)) You know how you feel closer to people you sit down and eat a meal with... well, this group of folks feels closer and more unified after observing the Lord's Supper together.  Amazing how that works.

We only have one more Sunday before we will be leaving here. Even though we will be happy to be on the road again, we will be very sad to leave these wonderful people.
